One Piece and Fairy Tail airs during normal hours and is full of fanservice. The primary reason for midnight+/early am airings is cost, as the production committee has to pay for the tv slot themselves. I would presume in this case NHK might be a member or sponsor. I bet the ads during this show would otaku oriented; something very different from other evening NHK shows. |

NHK is a public broadcaster. They don't carry ads. |

Ok, sponsorship messages then, especially as viewer fees are drying up for them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHK_General_TV
I've also read how sponsors get to places ads in various NHK publications. |
