Nice. I hope the battle system is more in line with the other games in the series.

I've never been a fan of using HP to kill enemies more swiftly.

I wonder if they'll tweak anything to give players a little more free time during the game (like the amount of time needed for syntheses and travel times on the world map). That was my biggest issue with Rorona; I always felt like I was scrambling to get things done and I didn't have that much time to just explore and goof around. Totori and Meruru were a little more forgiving in that regard, so here's hoping...

Just me or does the design seem a little loli-fied? Not that she looked totally old before, but the design tweaks feel pretty apparent.

:/ She always looked like a little girl in Atelier Rorona to me. She's supposed to be 14, after all (I don't care what the US version made her); and since Astrid is a total pedo, she makes the girl wear skimpy dresses "for alchemy" and such.

The design isn't (artwork in the bottom left of the upper scan is the same). The character model is. The other Arland games weren't that faithful to the artwork either, but it's more obvious here for some reason. Probably because the original Atelier Rorona had totally SD character models and they don't want to stray that far from that look.

To me it looks like they took Rorona's model from Totori and just took away the amount of years that had passed based on the story. Rorona always looked pretty young but in Totori she does look more grown up while still maintaining that childish look(something Totori points out to her in the game).

Either way I don't think it looks bad and it's cool they are trying to get a level of consistency across the Arland trilogy. Rorana is close to my favorite in the trilogy but it's game play and visual look varied so much from the 2nd and 3rd game. It will be nice to play it again with a new look and some of those new systems in place.

Dangit, I was just about to start my original version of Atelier Rorona. Now I can't stop thinking about the remake LOL

Anybody know if the sales for the English version were good enough to get this an North American license?

Well, the three subsequent Atelier games were released here, as well as the Vita versions of Totori and Meruru (the latter isn't out yet). So this will likely get released here as well. Though with Tecmo-Koei in charge of the franchise now, who knows what might happen.

But yeah, at this point if you haven't played Rorona, you might as well just wait for the remake.
