The voice of Rei Ayanami is voicing the blue-haired mech pilot? Oh, man, my inner fanboy is screaming out loud right now!
Really enjoyed Pacific Rim, and personally, I feel it's the best movie that's been released this year so far. So glad to see it getting a top-notch vocal cast!

My question is... Why didn't they just get Rinko herself to voice her own character?
Oh, and that poster's pretty awesome, too.

I feel as if Japan is where this movie is going to be getting the most of its revenue.

Just thinking that myself. But I have heard that she's not as well known in Japan as much as she is in the western world.

I hope so or the thread about its failure is going to be annoying.

I've heard a few reports on this. Some say they wanted the movie to do well so they got accomplished VAs. Other ones say that because Rinko isn't very well known in Japan, she wouldn't be able to sell 'tickets' so to speak.

Shouldn't that be millions of people? Sorry to be a grammar Nazi.

The other poster was far cooler.
Honestly I think that if they weren't going to go for a more tongue-in-cheek approach or clean up the plot to make it a tad more serious (since the movie teeters between "all out hokey" and "trying to be serious" and fails for it IMO) then they should have done away with physical actors and made the whole thing CG. Maybe that could have made the movie better? Maybe...?
Or maybe Del Toro could have just left the damn camera steady so I could have seen what was going on. Even during the mundane shots in the "command center" the camera was going through unnecessary motion. Let the action speak for itself, don't try and use hectic camerawork, camerawork which makes the action harder to see (which screams "we can't make a good action sequence so we'll fake it" to me), to "enhance" the action.
Regardless, the ending shouldn't have been a sappier, more "feel good" version of Battlefield Earth's. That movie, in that regard, outdid this movie. That should never have been allowed to happen lol.
