Sounds interesting I guess. I wonder what it will be about as in an "unprecedented" work.

The "science-fiction" part has my attention. I will definitely keep my eye on this.

My hopes are not so high that this will ever hit the ground, and if it does I hope it has some kind of real financing on the side because so far I've yet to see anything of real quality come from crowdfunding

Very, very interesting. It's particularly nice to see them starting a new studio, tapping into the rich talent at pixiv, and seeking other new talent in other areas, as well. It's encouraging to see them (and the industry as a whole) trying to work with and nurture new artists in the field of anime. So many legendary studios and early works came on the backs of passionate amateur and freelance artists and served as the launching points for future industry innovators and heavies…

Oooo, sounds really interesting and ambitious! Very GAINAX. My only worry is that they JUST green-lit like a zillion different projects; when will this one happen?

OTAKIIIIIIING!
If anybody can make this fandom oriented, kickstarter-like thing a reality, it'd definitely be him. At least I hope so!

This makes three companies that have spawned from Gainax staff now.
Project sounds interesting.

Always up for more studios taking a crack at scifi anime, and with a Gainax pedigree, hoping it works out, this could be interesting.
Totally agree Sam Murai, that's a good part of this story, them forming this new studio with such a focus on new talent in pretty much all of the areas.

Hopefully this sci-fi anime will be of the variety that has a serious and dramatic tone. Would personally prefer to see more of them produced.

Definitely sounds interesting. Now will it have some scifi facts the days of OS Gainax? Looking forward to the title.

I wonder why he needs to launch a seperate company to undertake this effort. Wasn't Gainax as whole producing Scifi related stories to begin with? Gunbuster for example?
I hope his efforts pays off, but crowd sourcing is like herding cats. They better darn reach beyond Japan if they want this one to fly. Otaku in Japan who like serious Scifi are part of older crowd. Anyone younger is few and far inbetween.
