Yeah doesn't seem that high, but even if it were, I don't think it'll make it any easier for consideration in the US

Nods, and it took them 37 weeks for a Nintendo handheld game in Japan. Now imagine outside Japan.

According to the news, Burst is the 3DS game, while the recent Versus is the Vita one.

Assuming it's a quick "translate and leave the original voices alone" job, it could be enough. Fire Emblem doesn't sell millions in every region, Awakening was one of their strongest sellers yet and the localisation was pretty top class (English, Japanese, a lot of script to get through and a good deal of it was voiced).
After seeing some games like Tomb Raider (2013) earn millions of copies sold over a few weeks with the publisher announcing that it didn't sell enough and the CEO resigns (http://www.destructoid.com/tomb-raider-hitman-sleeping-dogs-all-failed-square-enix-249692.phtml), it can surprising to see some games get multiple sequels, an anime, many manga adaptations and all without the original game or second title reaching even 100K in half a year.
It's done well enough for Takaki. Presumably if XSeed or whoever can manage their costs and expectations, plus promote the title to the right people, it'll be fine.

The Vita one sold 120k in just the first week. It seems that the Nintendo audience isn't really the best place to try to be making games like this. I hope this means more Vita games (along with localizations).

Outside Japan though, the Vita is doing a lot worse than the 3DS.
