Not too surprising. Glad to see Cardcaptor Sakura on there though.

Dark Horse's Japanese properties are not their major sellers they have the rights to the Buffy line, Star Wars and Hell Boy.

Manga sales are abysmal at comic specific retailers. I mean, it was pretty obvious before hand, but wow lol.

I actually hear manga are starting to sell better at comic book stores, so I guess these are technically "good" numbers Razz

Just hope the sales are well at B&N, Amazon and other places.

I started going to my local B&N about a year and a half ago, and I can say that their manga section has definitely grown a lot. I have also been seeing a lot of comic stores picking up a lot of manga as well, and even a manga exclusive store. I'm not sure about anywhere else tho.

And if you check the list for 2011 rating, the highest placed manga on the list was Naruto at the 84th place. But, there is more manga on this list than the latter.

I would imagine sales in book stores and sites like Amazon are significantly higher than this. The closest comic shop to me has NO manga at all contrary to my nearest B&N, in which manga makes up probably 75% of it's graphic novel section. The top 100 graphic novels on Amazon also usually contain some manga, and Sailor Moon Vol. 1 made it into the top 50 for all books on Amazon when it first came out (it peaked at 44, IIRC).

I consider myself lucky to have a local comic shop that regularly stocks manga. Saves me the trouble of going through multiple bookstores (on the odd chance they have new releases) or ordering online (internationally, which would take longer and probably cost more once shipping and customs are factored in).
