Concerning this specific part of the news post:

ANN wrote:
The post also stated that the first theatrical release of the series would be a 50-minute episode from the middle of the series, and that four episodes in total would be released, each three months apart.

Please forgive me for asking, but...doesn't "from the middle of the series" sound like a rather strange translation choice here, if not perhaps even an unintentional mistake? I wonder what's up with that phrase, since this isn't how it has been reported elsewhere (as in more than one other place) throughout the day. It's pretty odd.

Other than that, I'm not particularly surprised about the (apparently) chosen format...nor about Hashimoto's blog post from last month being edited once someone decided to bring attention to it. Laughing Even if you'd think it wouldn't hurt to confirm this information officially, at least if it hasn't changed in the meanwhile, I suppose that's standard policy when anyone goes ahead revealing things out of order.

If it does turn out to be from the middle of the series somehow, it might be from the middle of the series chronologically, but still intended to be watched first. CLAMP's four-part Clover manga was like that.

The ANN article's source is a site which reproduces postings from 2ch, rather than ANN's covering the story directly and by themselves.
It seems that the blog article by Hashimoto originally had the equivalent part in question, but probably it was deleted later.
As to 'the middle of the series', I'm sorry to say so, but it might be due to the ANN staffer's being ignorant of the Japanese technical term '中編', which seems to have been included in the original blog article. In contexts relating to films, '中編' means a film that is longer than a short but shorter than a feature.

I hope that the BD release will contain English sub. It would be nice to see a re-release for the first 2 series on BD sets with English sub.

THIS! I'm pretty sure BV will have something like that up their sleeves.

Maybe they'll pull a UC and give us a dub too. Laughing

Not likely, considering that Code Geass has not proven to be the most successful selling franchise over here in North America.

Still, it's nice to finally know this information, cause god knows we've been wondering about it for a long time.
