So far, I've loved all the films that Masayuki Kojima has directed. I'm really looking forward to this movie!

So, it looks like this is going to be a family movie that tries to completely avoid discussing the political situation in Tibet. I am not opposed to that necessarily. I was worried that this might get a bit... propaganda-y with the Chinese involvement, but there's nothing wrong with focusing on how gorgeous (if harsh) a land Tibet is.

Btw, are there really dog breeds in Tibet that can take down bears? Shocked

Tibetan Mastiffs are a large breed, and meant to be flock guardians. While I'm not sure about them going up against a bear, they most certainly can fight large animals. An African breed, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, was bred to keep lions at bay for hunters. So it's surprising what dogs can do.

This looks like a really great film. Nice use of CG without being overbearing. I hope that we can get a screening of this at either the Japan Society festivals or the NYCFF/gkids. I would love to see this. The music is a nice touch.

Yeah, I've heard of the Tibetan mastiffs. Not a breed you'll find often at an AKC shows. The Karelian bear dog, while not as big as mastiffs, is a breed of dog used in some states here to fend off bears. Then of course there's my favorite the Nagareboshi Gin posse.

Keeping fingers crossed.

Y'know someone should screen Piano Forest as well.
