Haha, this is really cute. I really like the Marquis de Sade one. Doubly so, because he wasn't all that hot in real life, and thinking about it he might make a good yandere.

It reminds me a little bit of Hetalia since the writers come from a variety of countries. It was a lot of fun looking at these pictures. (Although seeing Kafka as a sexy bishonen was a little disorientating.)

Hey, after seeing a variety of subject matters turned into moe girls. (which *is* fun) It's nice to see the ladies receive something in kind.

Enjoy! Smile

This made me laugh. The sedentary lifestyle of a writer does not lead to hotness. kinda the opposite, actually.

Would have been more accurate if the "male literary characters turned into Potato characters" was the theme.

Laughing

This is hella goofy, but I'm getting a kick out of Sexy Tolstoy's weird belly shirt. I'm kind of curious to see what other figures are in this book. How about Faulkner and his sassy fur-trimmed boots?

Needless to say if Byron is there I MAY JUST HAVE TO BUY IT.

And here I thought that a rock opera was the craziest thing that I'd ever see done to Franz Kafka.

Born in Meiji 13 died in Taishō 12... Doesn't quite have the same pizzazz.

Oh I want to see this so badly.

Since Kafka had both body and daddy issues a moe-girlification is also something I am looking forward too. (Hans Christian Andersen needs to be done as well... so much potential)
His friends however described him as quite handsome.

I am curious in how far their literary works influenced the design.
The Brothers Grimm together in a magical forest holding each others hands?
Miguel de Cervantes in a rusty armor on a dusty road?

I am excited. The cover looks quite promising.

Edit: One american author maybe Poe would have been nice though.
Edit2: Almost forgot the obligatory. As Franz Kafka awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed into a tall handsome bishounen.

Yeah this is what I'm noticing too, first the Constitution of Japan into moe now this and the jelly moe-fication and recently this. What's up with the moe-fication movement. I'm waiting for my western game character into moe, the Little Sister from Bioshock would look really super cute after seeing a fan art.

Western games aren't really popular in Japan, and I'm pretty sure Bioshock is not an exception.

I'm sorry, but I can't see a Western gaming developer making moe either unless they're indie. I can only imagine some of the gamer nerd rage if someone actually attempted this.

Actually, western game are starting to lose stigma in Japanslowly. I take it that you are one of the many people that believe western game don't sell well although several western games have made breakthrough in Japan. Just today I just got news that LA Noire and Infamous 2 just sold like crazy this week in Japanmaking top 10 in the list for this week. Actually I know several game that sold like crazy in Japan:

Grand Theft Auto 4: I believe that one sold like crazy when it first came out in Japan.

Modern Warfare 2: The combined sales for both 360 and PS3 adds up to 100,000 units, for a first time a western game broke the 100,000 sales in Japan. In the end Modern Warfare 2 sold 178,000 units at the end of the first week. Modern Warfare 2's Japanese sales was brokenby COD: Black Ops when that came out in Japan.

Geez even Battlefield: Bad Company 2 made the top ten saleswhen it came to Japan. Other mentionable western game that sold well in Japan: Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Elder Scrolls 4 (that game had a lot of anime mods coming out of Japan), Dragon Age: Origins. Although Bioshock didn't have a perfect sales, it did sold enough to get these titles:

Well somebody didn't shy away of moe-fying the Little Sister:

The reason I could probably say why western game are now starting to sell better in Japan because most JRPGs (not counting some like Final Fantasy) have always use the same formula and not exactly being creative and lacking some new thing (I'm not defending FPS, I've seen some bad one and some that just suck so bad). This is probably why Japan is starting to look into western game. I understand some Japanese developers are now trying to adapt some of the stuff, also please recall that some of well-known franchises from Japan are being out-sourced to western developers like Silent Hill, Castlevania (Lord of shadow for example), Devil may Cry, and the upcoming Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Also Square Enix has been relying on western developer for their help too. I don't know if Kenji Inafune is correct when he said the Japanese gaming industry is dead. But I would love to see western publisher had their game outsourced to Japanese developers like for example:

Bethesda could have From Software (Armored Core, Demon Souls) to do a Fallout spin-off game.

Since EA had team up with SEGA to have their game publish and distribute in Japan, maybe EA could get Platinum Game (developer of Vanquish, and Anarchy Reign) to do a Battlefield game. EA could get Platinum Game and Nude Maker to do a Mass Effect spin-off game in the style of Infinite Space, not like the other Mass Effect game on Iphone which suck really bad.

Also, I like to say that some of the anime adaptation of western game like Halo Legends, the upcoming Dragon Age and Mass Effect anime could maybe help western game sales in Japan. Who knows, maybe a Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed anime could happen since Ubisoft expressed interest to enter the JRPG market. A lot of time JRPG become anime and if that does well, it could open options of adapting their franchises into anime.
