Two things:
Whoah, I had no idea Parasyte was that old. I though it was a 2000s title.
As much as I liked Parasyte, I'm not sure how I feel about this news.

How exciting! Parasyte's great, so Black Jack is in good hands. Kudos for Iwaaki and Nakayama for daring to tackle such a classic.

What no note that Parasyte was also published by Del Rey?
I'm pretty excited about this, though does this mean he is taking a break on Historie? It seems he has a hard enough time getting that out on time.

Phew, thanks for pointing out that it was published by Del Ray. That's why I came here.
But this news... Hmm, this could be interesting, but I am a bit worried. I'm a huge Tezuka fanboy, and "Black Jack" is among my favorite of his work. Now, granted, Tezuka Productions wouldn't let anybody so much as CONSIDER doing something like this without their blessing first, so they must have seen some early work and been impressed. So, at this point, color me cautiously optimistic.
Plus, last time one of Tezuka's works got a remake/re-imagining, we got "Pluto". And we all know how awesome that was

Parasyte was 1 of 4 MixxZine launch titles in 1997.
(And it's not spelled Mixxine, as the article put it.)

I love Black Jack, and the more I read it, the more I want to read. Parasyte is one of my favorite shonen titles, and I can only imagine that Iwaaki has become an even better writer since he wrote it. (I'm imagining because Historie has never been legally published State side. Um, Viz? Vertical? Dark Horse? Could one of you guys do something about that? Thanks! )
@Apollo-kun: If this turns out anything like Pluto, it might just be the best manga of the decade! I'd love to see a Black Jack with more linear plot threads to contrast the original episodic nature, and whether its set in a retro-'70's verse or (more likely) the present, it should look brand new while complimenting the original.
