Over the last decade Gundam series where Directed by people who have proven themselves by directing several popular tv series such as Fukuda (Cyber Formula, Gear Fighter Dendoh), Mizushima (Slayers Next, Fullmetal Alchemist), and Furuhashi(Rurouni Kenshin, Hunter X Hunter, second Fatal Fury OVA). The Gundam Unicorn novels where written by a best selling author whose works have been made into movies. This seems to be a return to the 90's where the Directors where less proven (Takamatsu's most famous works where made after Gundam X, and Ikeda's only popular anime before Gundam Wing was the first half of Ronin Warriors)

But let's see the direction this Gundam AGE will take when they release the first episode, because I am very interested in this one, but like you (Charred Knight) said these guys aren't so well proven Confused

I watched the video and looked at the promo pictures in the article and this is clearly aimed at kids. It might show up on The Hub but if it doesn't I'm not sure we'll ever see this in the United States, other than a possible streaming deal.

I am actually glad that they chose to make this show for kids.

Sunrise also confirmed that Akihiro Hino, president of the game studio Level 5 (Inazuma Eleven, Danbōru Senki), is supervising the story.

Oh? But I thought that instead of Akihiro Hino working on the story on his own, Level-5 would be taking a more direct role in the production of the anime as ANN itself had claimed in the previous article, and as later reiterated by its [senior news] editor? Interesting news has also emerged regarding the game in the Gundam Age project:
Quote:

Level-5 Developing Gundam RPG

Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino (left) appears at today's Gundam Age announcement.

Word of Level-5's involvement in the new Gundam Age series leaked out of Coro Coro Comics last week. Now we have details on just how involved the developer is in the project.

As reported last week, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino is working on the story and series framework for Gundam Age, which will span the full gamut of media, including manga, anime, a toy/model line, and games.

The big question for Level-5 fans was, would Level-5 be working on the games? The answer is yes. Namco Bandai revealed today that Level-5 is developing a new RPG based off the series.

Separate from the RPG, Gundam Age mecha and characters will also feature in the next SD Gundam G Generation title. Namco Bandai's press release did not mention Level-5's involvement in this.

The platform and release time frame for both games is currently TBA.

Interesting how machine work seems to take precedence over true journalism these days. Also, did Sunrise also cite Inazuma Eleven and Danbooru Senki (surely Hino's most famous works, yes, eh) in its "announcement" as well? If so, quite amusing (though I don't suppose Hino himself would be too keen on the constant association with these rather unsuccessful titles).

Both Hino and Level 5 are involved in the production of the anime:

Arguing that Inazuma Eleven is unsuccessful would be difficult, with its two sequel games, several spinoff games, 127 anime episodes, an ongoing spinoff anime series, and a film.

I watched the live announcement for this and it definitely looks to be aimed at kids. I'll check it out as a Gundam fan, but for now I can't see myself getting too into it. The mobile suits don't look cool and the UE look like Pokemon. Will be sort of interesting to see how they'll try to pull the older crowd into this.

I did think the Gundam Tri-Age or whatever game thing looked cool though. It's like the game that was in Gunpla Builders!

Kinda doubt. Not one gundam series have ever been targeted for kids. Young teens in the 13-17 demo, but NEVER the demo for kids unless you count those SD Gundam series which was the worst mistake EVER.

Is it possible that this one will have no language? Probably. But every other content must be required for it to be a gundam series.

Either way it looks interesting enough. If it's anything like 00 or Unicorn , i'm definitely hooked.

And of course we're expecting Bandai Ent will have the license and Ocean Studios will be doing the dub since they litteraterly dubbed almost every since gundam series that is not an OVA series.

Though I'VE wondered why they never use Ocean Studios only for the TV series and never for the OVA,but instead give the dubbing to others like Animaze ( 0083 Stardust Memory ) and NYAV ( Unicorn ) Kinda odd though.

I highly doubt that they're aiming for anything like Gundam 00 or Unicorn, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I think you need to shake things up, too many times people say, "that's not gundam" and dismiss it without looking at it.

Seems that's the initial reaction for a lot of the responses I've seen. We'll just have to see~

Inazuma Eleven GO is a direct sequel that takes place 10 years later and involves a whole bunch of the old characters, not just a spinoff. Anime hyper; Also, the second film is on its way at the end of the year.

I was describing the Inazuma Eleven GO works as "spinoffs" to distinguish it, at least in game franchise terms, from the more direct sequels such as Inazuma Eleven 2 and Inazuma Eleven 3.
