Eh Death note is one of the few i actually prefer watching as a dub.

Seems strange that they would only offer subtitles lol...

I'm not so interested in the Death Note announcement per se, since I have the DVDs, but seeing that Viz is going to stream subbed anime makes me happy. Funimation has so many series streaming on Netflix, but they're all Englished dubbed, so I end up renting the DVDs instead. It would be great if there was a push to provide the options of English dubbed or Japanese with subs.

To me this is idiotic. They already give all these shows away for free on their site w/subs.

Why not, on the service we pay for, couldn't they put the dub?
Or both, like Netflix has done w/other titles?

I've only watched the first few episodes of Death Note, so it'll be nice to finish the series on Netflix. I wish both dub and sub was offered though. The few episodes that I did see were dubbed, and that's how I'd like to watch the rest of the series. I'll still watch it subtitled, but I wish we were given a choice.

bahamut623 also mentioned in the Anime thread that Reborn has been picked up by Viz for online streaming.

Here is a pic they provided from the lastest issue of Shonen Jump:

I didn't know there was any subbed anime on Netflix, I've only seen dubs on there. I've already seen Death Note, but I'll watch it anyway.

Considering that the majority of anime streaming on Netflix (and playing on television) is dubbed I think you can deal with a few things being subbed, or rent it like we do. Jeez, the American industry is all about dubs and you people act like you're so marginalized.

yay Smile Now if only Funimation would follow suit and put some subs up -_- So many shows I want to watch, so many dubs I can't stomach, and only a one-dvd-out-at-a-time membership that's shared by 4 people :p

They should give the option.

This is exactly why legal streaming blows.

Does anyone know exactly why is it that all Viz anime (Bleach, Inuyasha, Death Note, etc...) are only available subbed on Netflix? Is it because of Viz's terms? Any word on negotiating for dubs anytime soon?

Finally, Netflix is offering original japanese dialogue with english subtitles, the way anime is meant to be enjoyed. I think it's safe to say that most of the people who watch the dub only, are more recent anime fans, say the last 5-7 years and the veterans, 10+ years prefer their anime subbed, which is as original as you can get. I am so happy that Netflix finally put up subbed anime and hope that one day, that all anime and foreign films will have the option for both original spoken language and english dubbed versions. So if anyone from Viz Media and/or Netflix sees this post, you have just made 1 subscriber exteremely happy and I will continue to support NetFlix and Viz Media.

If I wanted to read, I would read the manga.
Watching subbed anime doesn't make you any more of a fan. Rolling Eyes
