Whoa... that's more than a quarter of a million dollars! Shocked Either his manga is uber-successful or he's independently wealthy. I've never heard of the Kaiji manga, but then again I guess there are a bunch of series that don't make their way out of Japan.

Well, I'm sure it'll go a long way towards helping the relief efforts, which is definitely cool. Very Happy

His series are too good for America. Kaiji , Akagi, and Zero are all amazing.

Lighting Leo, you NEED to watch Kaiji.
Here are the steps.
1.- Go watch Kaiji.
2.- When you finish watching in, watch Season 2 scheduled to air April 5th.
3.- ???
4.- Profit!

Its funny how the entire first anime builds up 20 million yen as some "Massive amount of money", yet the creator donates 30 million like its nothing.

from what I know about how mangaka have it moneywise, compared to how much work they do, I'm gonna say this guy deserves some real recognition. it makes me feel ashamed that I couldn't have donated more, even with what's been going on financially. but then spending about $30, with 1/3 of it going to help pets and the other 2/3 to help the people while I'm unemployed and helping my dad get financial issues straightened up after my mom's death that's about as much as I could do without leaving ME needing some financial help.

When you have a live-action movie starring Tatsuya Fujiwara made from your work, you don't need to think about money that much anymore.

The pic's cool, though. "We can't lose now! Japan is all we have!"

Wow, that is amazingly generous of him.
Ditto on the pic + message, it's inspiring.

I'm really curious about Kaiji and his other works too.
