Saw the news this morning (lovely way to start a weekend) and I'm crushed since she was one of my favorite authors of all time. She was just so good at juggling subplots and slipping in foreshadowing (a lot of which sadly the movie cut out) that I was in awe of her, she was someone who knew how to write plots. Rest in peace, I think a reread of some of her books is in order for me now.

Oh, that's terrible, she wrote some of my favorite YA fantasy books. What a loss. Sad

Time to re-read Dark Lord of Derkholm.

I'm reading Castle in the Air right now. This is unfortunate. She will be missed.

To paraphrase Terry Pratchett, "Though no one may remember the singer, the song will remain." Diana Wynne Jones will live on through her words and in our hearts. We will remember her. *salutes*

This is really sad... I was just getting into her books again recently. I remember when I was in high school I really liked the Crestomanci series. And I absolutely love Howl's Moving Castle, I reread it all the time Anime cry

This is a great loss, but Diana Wynne Jones will be remembered.

R.I.P., you deserved it.

Didn't really care for the movie, but my mom really got into her work after reading the books, and was a tad flustered that so much of her stuff was ironically OOP. So hopefully, at least this'll encourage re-issues of those titles. R.I.P.

How sad. Her Chrestomanci books are among my favorite fantasy novels, and Howl's Moving Castle among my favorite film adaptions. I hope her work will be remembered for a long time to come, although her legacy is not one that should be easily forgotten. :]

Jeez, bummer.

I admit that I didn't actually read Howl's Moving Castle until after seeing the anime, but the book has become one of my favorites. My copy has started falling apart because I tend to take it out every few months and re-read it.

I feel sad that I didn't get a chance to read more of her work while she was still alive.
