While I do agree that animation is pretty much normal, not too great or not too bad, and Sentai Filmworks' subtitling is very bad, I was aghast (well, more like disappointment) at its release not including all uncensored version in each episodes like Japanese's DVD release has. Might have to include those clips of uncensored ones in the Extras Menu. :/
Shame on you, Sentai Filmworks, shame on you. *shakes head*

A fun show, and as usual, I think Theron has done a good job of describing it. It is my favourite of the three seasons that have been made so far - later seasons don't really focus on the Aisha - Rin-rin relationship so much and that was one of my favourite aspects of the first season. Plus, the cast becomes so huge it is literally impossible to keep track of everybody.
Bitterly resent Sentai's cheapo decision to just keep CR's error-riddled subtitles. And what's up with the quasi-censorship? I don't think I've ever heard of a situation where an R1 release shows more than the Japanese broadcast version yet less than the Japanese DVD release version.
Still, I liked the show enough that I'll probably pick it up despite those black marks.

Funny thing is that the original VN used to star some male lead who somehow got transported to the world of Koihime Musou, but the anime staff decided to cut him out completely and concentrate on Aisha. If you ask me, it certainly shakes up the character dynamics for the girls as it doesn't have to go through dull harem antics (which would have made this series even more average if they kept him).

I can't remember if I wanted to see more random eating contests or less, but I do remember this series having random eating contests.

From what I understand (having only seen the CR streams and neither DVD version) the Japanese release has two versions of the episodes, one with the SD characters and one without, both uncensored.
The US discs only have the chibi version.

That's true, and it's the same for other version outside of Japan that they only got the Chibi version.
This is what I got from Mania.com
Quote: | Please Note: Two versions of this show are available in Japan with the original version that has chibi versions of the characters in many scenes and other scenes with them as normal adults. The original version isn't the same as the broadcast and Sentai only has the original version. This is also true of other releases of Koihime Muso released, such as the Taiwanese release that has the same material, leading many to believe that the DVD original version is not available for licensing as an incentive for Japanese buyers to stay with the home releases |

Well I am definitely not. Dont get wrong. The series itself in very interesting cause of the yuri cutness not to mentioned I'm one of those fanservice junkies, but I'll definitely wait until they do a better release when
#1 all the errors are fixed.I mean really? I'm no sub watcher but seriously , these subbing errors are not gonna cut it. It's as nearly bad as what Animax Asia is doing to dubs in their reigion.
#2 they have FULL uncensorship like in the Japaneese DVDs. I mean come on. I could understand it was made to keep the parental raiting , but the way their acting on the uncensored eps is like their afraid of the uncensored censorship of fanservice. Kinda sad cause more of this as well as the bad subbing scripts and some otakus are gonna start comparing them to Animax Asia or worse. Compared them to a slighty bad version of both Nelvana & 4kids cause of their fear of fanservice uncensorship.
most important for me at least , the newer release will include an eng dub. I will never buy any DVDs unless it have one.

If you would actually read the thread, it's more likely that the Japanese rights holders do not want the uncensored version available anywhere else, as the Taiwan release is the exact same video as the Section23 release.

I actually atended a Alamo screening of this show 3 weeks ago and recall seeing no censors at all. I saw about 5 or 6 nipple shots. Oh and BTW, the version that was screened was rated TVMA.

Which IMO is kinda dumb, since we are talking about a series from 2008 (it will be three years old in about four more months) and in video (as in music and videogames) companies make most of their profits in the first six months. Only a handful continue to sell in any meaningful (as in, requiring a reprint, even if it has a lower price tag) manner. So either the IP owners are stingy or Koihime Musou is really their golden goose.

Didn't know about the censorship, guess I'll have to keep my eyes open when they show up on TAN. Not sure if I would have ended up buying this, but I definately won't now as I don't want to support a censored release. Whether it's Sentai23's fault or not.

Before people go running around screaming about censorship, I think you guys should fully read this thread.

This. There are two "uncensored" versions. Neo-ADV got the version that retains the chibi scenes.

Yes, they got the censored chibi version. Come on, we all know the game now. If you don't provide all the gore, nudity, and sex that the Japanese are 'allowed' to see, then you are buying the 'censored/edited for content' version. If Sentai didn't label their DVD as censored or edited for content, then they are deceiving their consumers. Who we all already know, are expecting all the stuff you couldn't see in the broadcast version. If the Japanese can see the anime in all its explicit glory, then you better not deny it to the rest of us. Doesn't matter what Sentai's or the Japanese reasons were, they are bound to label their product accordingly.
These games by the Japanese, or Sentai's editing policies are exceedingly foolish. Deceit leaves a foul taste in the mouth, Sentai should have known better. If the Japanese played foul with Sentai and didn't advise them that they were not getting the full product, then Sentai was stupid in not knowing about the product they were buying. If the fans of the show can tell the difference in what was available and what was provided, then Sentai should have been able to also.
Stupid stuff like this is the reason why fansubs are not going anywhere.

Except we are getting the version that the Japanese got. The problem is that the Japanese got TWO versions of the content on their DVD/BR releases. One with chibi scenes. One without. Both remove steam and such. Both are different from the censored television version. I can understand people wanting Neo-ADV to pick up the other version, but this is not a censored release. More than anything, I think people should be complaining about the subtitles. Like the review says, they're pretty bad and contain a ton of spelling and grammar errors.
