Haha, wow. 1984 suddenly popped into my head.
Are they denying that it still exists or that it ever existed?

Translation: Taking a hacksaw to the base and letting it topple to the ground and cleaning it up before the park opens the next day.
Right now, the scrap is probably in a steel mill ladle in Shenyang.

I think we have found where the old Iraqi Information Minister is working now.
This is getting downright comical.

Good sir, what drivel are you spewing that dare contradict that man? It was only one of Saddam's secret doubles that was found in a rabbit hole, and Saddam is now posing as al-Maliki, ready to pounce with the revival of the Ba'athist Party as soon as occupation forces leave!
Anyway, back to the joke I was going to make on the article at hand:
In Communist China, Gundams own you.
err...
In Communist China, Orange Gundams build you?
In Communist China, Angsty Teens watch you?
Drat, can't think of any really good Russian Reversal-type jokes here...

We all know they didn't take it down, they just told news agencies to stop reporting that it's there.

"Nonsense! We never had a 50-foot Gundam statue located anywhere on the premises of our relatively flat-park area. These false accusations are confounded, baseless, and frankly offensive!"

Silly China and their inferiority complex. First it's 15 meters, then I suppose someone mentioned how Japan's was 18, so naturally they changed the listing to 20 meters. I'm surprised they took it down. China has never given a damn about copyright law, so I'm not sure what Sotsu would have been able to do even if China had copied the Gundam down to the smallest detail.

i.e. China rejects our reality and substitutes their own.
You just had to bring up "myths"...

Note to self: Visit Bootleg-Land if I ever go to China.
Preferably more than once, becuase anything I saw the first time will likely 'never have been there' the second.

When did they start caring about infringement?
Intellectual Property? What's that?
Maybe they are learning? No cookie yet.

"Its an original design" I couldn't stop laughing after I read that.

Technically IT IS AN ORIGINAL DESIGN. They just forgot to mention it wasn't theirs and they didn't come up with it.
