Interesting, I hope this goes well for them. It would be nice if they set one up near me, lol. Netflix doesn't have everything, this won't either, but they might have something Netflix doesn't.

I really hope this does well, and they bring this out on the West Coast. We tried a Netflix trial and I wasn't happy with their interface, and locally there's only one place that we have any sort of selection for anime. This sounds like it would be awesome.

This is surprising. I thought that Media Blasters wasn't doing so well and that any day now they would be going the way of the dodo.
It's a really cool idea and I wonder how profitable it will be. My guess is it would highly depend on area but the places they are targeting for the machines look like a good idea. The fact that it says it will stock anime from all the companies is pretty awesome too. It will be very interesting to see how this pans out. |

Wow, great idea- set these up in comic shops or in bookstores by the manga shelves or other geek hangouts, and I imagine they'll do well. Great way to reach out to new markets, as RedBoxes are very popular, and I imagine MB will have a nice catalogue of horror films and asian films to go along with them.
I wonder if they'll stock some non-MB titles? I know that from reviews I've seen, their store in New Jersery carries pretty much anything and everything anime. |

Free cases for those whose dog chewed up their old one, or at least a new paper insert. As for the idea itself... interesting. But arcades went out in the 80s so where would these get placed? Location is everything, including kiosks giving away free cases. Yes, I'm sure there's a security measure to ensure your CC gets read first before you try to read and dash. I'm just having a little fun. Update: Just read the other thread. Damn, I own quite a few of those titles. I'm rather amazed my collection grew this fast. Which reminds me, I need to buy Haruhi 2. brb. |

Bring your kiosks to West Lafayette, Media Blasters! We fit the criteria (Purdue University).

Huh. Seems like a pretty backwards way to go in this age of netflix and online streaming.

Since it uses a credit card for payment, then that might count as their age verification system. Not to say that folks shouldn't reserve adult titles so the spines/covers show in the displays, on the off-chance they make it into the mix and forget to enable filtering to anonymous users. |
