This sounds like it could be pretty interesting to hear about, as long as it isn't just a bunch of puffing. Right up until the Q&A devolves into a slew of "When is 'title' going to resume?" or "Why haven't you licensed 'series' yet?" and they close the session to go be productive anyway.

I would LOVE to ask how that Courtney Love manga and all of those stupid Amanda Show cine-manga did. I wanna ask why they even bother staying in business. They release two volumes and then quit anyway.

I want to ask when the next volume of Loveless is going to be released and why they dumped all their Kodansha licenses, including a lot of series that were still ongoing.

You have the situation backwards. Tokyopop did not dump the Kodansha licenses. Kodansha withdrew their licenses from Tokyopop. Tokyopop has already stated they do not know why Kodansha pulled all its licenses from them.

A quick check of Amazon and AmazonJapan shows that the English releases are out through v8. The Japanese tankouban for Loveless v9 was released... last week. For whatever reason, there's a 21-month gap between the Japanese releases of v8 and v9.

Two reasons, probably. First, Kodansha directly entered the American manga market in September with reprints of the formerly-Dark Horse licensed Ghost in the Shell and Akira. There's no reason to go through a licensee when you're present in the same market and Kodansha's license-pulling was likely a lead-up to their entry. Second, it's quite possible Kodansha was displeased as a licensor with TokyoPop's generally slipshod quality.
