I would say that this is a very niche title because it's about the adventures of a cat.

niche like Garfield, lol
Well, maybe you're right, What's Micheal didn't do so good in the US, either. But Chi is just one of many, many, manga series about cats in Japan. At a bookstore close by there is a display just for cat-themed manga.

This makes me very happy. I wonder if they'll be published in color or in black and white.

Sweet, merciful Sasquatch! THANK. YOUUUU!! I fell in love with CSH as soon as I started reading it (admittedly thru scanlations, yes, but I stopped after the first vol. since by then I knew I wanted to own it).
I absolutely cannot WAIT to tell my girlfriends!

Wow! This would be totally awesome! I was just thinking about the title the other day, and admitted to myself that no one would probably pick it up. And then this

I see this title's appeal seems similar to that of Yotsuba&! at first glance, only with a feline twist in this case. Though Vertical are denying they hold the rights, they themselves allude to the possibility of there being fire as well as smoke.

This would make me very, very happy if it is licensed. I love cats, and have been anxiously awaiting any news of Chi's Sweet Home being licensed in either anime or manga format. The art is so friggin' adorable!
Thank you for sharing this. Hopefully it is true that it's being brought over!
