Well alls well that ends well. Now do they even have enough material to finish the story off? It seems an AO ending might be in the works.

Is it safe to assume then that Shana III will not fall victim to a filler-plagued first half like it's predecessor?

Am I the only one going "huh?" with this explanation? Can't they do that in episodes of the third season. Unless Splitter is right and they're trying to split out the crappy filler episodes into their own OVA instead of taking TV time to do them...

Uh.

The Shana novels are ongoing.

This better not be the third and final series...

I'm sure with about 20 books there's enough content for hundreds of episodes : /

Well, I'm assuming that the novel series is probably getting close to its conclusion, so this OVA series buys them a bit more time so that they can finish both the novel and anime series at the same time (probably having the same ending).

lol both the Anime and Manga are based on the Light Novels.
So in order for the Anime not to make it's own ending, the Light Novel Series would have to have it's own ending.

They could just make up their own ending.

Or maybe the third season will be a more sensible 13 episodes so they can animate whatever is available from the light novel and not resort to meandering filler.

You'd think that'd be the smart thing to do, but Japan proves over and over than logical thinking isn't their strong point.

Or maybe in Japan, fans don't mind seeing new content rather than a regurgiatated version of the manga. I've never understood why US fans read "not manga" as bad by default... regardless of quality Rolling Eyes

You'd think the 2nd season of Shana was the worst anime ever made based off of US watchers, but obviously it was good enough and successful enough to garner a 3 season and a bunch of OVAs Shocked

That's what I say. Where's the originality that fans beg and plead for when they make the anime an exact copy of the manga/novels? I always enjoy it when an anime decides to do it's own thing and loosely follow the manga. I feel that it lets the director go crazy and do what he wants and not have the chains of the manga attached to his imagination. Shows like Naruto and Bleach could be much better if they weren't so dedicated to being a replica of the manga (not to mention shorter).
