More specific plans for the release, as well as the details on any extras that will be included, potential digital distribution or a Blu-Ray release are still up in the air. At this point, Funimation is simply focusing on putting the dub into customers' hands, but is certainly planning to explore these additional options.

Then why not just put the dub on their video portal for free so they can get the DVD (and hopefully BD) release right? I mean, I don't think I'd mind double-dipping for "Eva", but I'd rather only have to get it once.

Last November, Funimation streamed a "test episode" of the show (Sgt. Frog) on YouTube in order to gauge fans' reactions to one potential dub cast. Based on these reactions, some of the voices have been left unchanged, while other parts were recast.

Woah, that's freakin' smaht. I didn't realize this sort of thing was even done. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to do more of this.

Crying or Very sad I wanted to hear Greg Ayres as Kawarou again, dammit. Oh well, Colleen Clinkenbeard as Ristuko makes up for it, I look forward to that Wink

No listing for Asuka?

They BETTER get Tiffany Grant to reprise her role there! Nobody else can do it, because she IS Asuka!

Considering Asuka doesn't show up until 2.0, it would be odd for her to be listed already.

Anime Vice was properly sourced in the original news item we posted earlier today.

True, just seems like a long winded statement to not say Anime Vice and almost sounds like a personal vendetta against Gia, but that could be just how I'm reading it Smile

You're seeing drama where there is none, however I agree that the statement could be construed that way and have thus removed it.

Well, Asuka's not in movie 1, and they don't have the next movies yet so it'd be jumping the gun if they went ahead and said they got whomever for that role already.

Good news but I still fear for the economic future of Funimation more specifically Navarre's financial health. Still sounds like everything went well at the panel and we can expect them to be around for another couple months. Maybe that's the pace the industry should have been setting from the beginning. Sorry for being negative but there are a lot of factors at play here.

Regardless, thank you for licensing Spice and Wolf!

Not that the situation can't change but if stock price is any indication of health, Navarre's doing better than it has been. Their stock is up from the 30-40 cent range to the 60-70 cent range lately. (Still sucks that it's under a dollar a share but better is better.)

I'm happy about the new license, could have been something I'd like even more but this is good, and considering they said they won't be scaling back, I don't think we have to worry too much about them. (At least, I hope not!)

I sure as hell hope they can get some kind of limited theatrical release - at least another Fathom event or something. I'd love to see this on a big screen first.

It's Eva and stuff!

And while it is continuing to pay the most attention to those shows that are likely to appeal to a wider audience, Funimation also remains cognizant of the potential that titles that are more obscure, but have built-in fanbases have, especially if sold through specialist retailers such as Right Stuf.

So does that mean that FUNimation might start doing online-only releases for more niche shows? I'd be fine with that depending on the show... Like Ring ni Kakero 1.
