I typically never mess with the 15 second previews of things I wanna watch, but for some reason I'm taking in as much about this show as I possibly can. I don't even know why it's grabbing me so much, but I hope it's worth the ride.

If you're like me, it's the hope that Gonzo is going to finally break out of the rut it's been in recently and come out with something brilliant again. I'm not Gonzo-bashing here; I've loved a lot of their stuff in the past, why is why I want so badly for them to make another masterpiece.

The story looks promising, so here's me crossing my fingers!

Yeah, Gonzo has made some of my favorites so I'd love for them to get out of their rut with this show. Can't wait for it to start.

Off the top of my head some of it for me is the potential of the setting and what we know of the story as a scifi fan, the Last Exile style art (Murata's one of my favorite artists) and likely it's music (since LE had a great soundtrack) and the promising knowledge that they've got a good writer onboard who will hopefully come through here.

Thanks for the link, SneakerPimp!

I must say, I really like the opening animation. Definitely has shades of Last Exile's opening animation, which to me is a pretty good sign. Hopefully Gonzo can get back on track with Shangri-La.

Still, I'm never going to get Sheryl from Macross Frontier out of my head whenever I watch this opening/listen to the song. I bet this is something May'n won't ever be able to shake for the rest of her career. People who have seen Macross F will always think of her as "Sheryl Nome."

The show looks really cool. Normally I don't look into stuff thats "brand new" because well I may never get to see it. Although I'm hoping that in a year or 2 Funimation will pick this up seeing how Funi has a deal with Gonzo.

But you can watch it via simulcast legal streaming on CrunchyRoll already?

Eh...At this point I just don't have much interest in seeing any action show with a girl who constantly wears a ridiculous school uniform.

-School uniform for...at school.
Yeah, makes sense.
-School uniform for...outside school.
Okay, I can see not bothering to change.
-School uniform for...fighting tanks with your magic boomerang. No...seems like you'd probably want to put on something else for that.

Funny you should mention that, for the Sakura Legends comic they did exactly that, that while yes she does have fights in her school uniform, she doesn't wear it when she is not at school, thus getting into fights sans school uniform. Notably the Dan/Zangief vs Sakura/Mika fight.

So I feel for you I wish anime would take on at least that aspect of realism, I don't know of many people who would wear any unifrom 24/7 unless they had to, and I don't think school uniforms are an all the time thing (even Azumanga Daioh has the characters get out of school uniform.).

The same thing happened with Mari Iijima (Lynn Minmay). She wanted to be known as a musician first, and it took her years to reconcile with her one and only anime role.

Same for Leonard Nimoy with Spock too.

Hahahahahahahaha....... "Tokyo girls prefer school uniform-like dresses" Laughing

"Many magazines for young girls feature topics on school uniform-like dress, approvingly called ‘‘nanchatte seifuku’’ (fake uniform)...."

"Aren't you bothered by the dirty old men when you wear that uniform all over the place after school?"
"Yes, but the dirty young men make up for it."

Actually, I don't even mind it when it's something like Azumanga Daioh. In that case the characters are schoolgirls. They should wear uniforms. They should wear them a lot because most of what happens takes place in school, after school, or at least involves things for which a school uniform is a functional thing to wear. But yeah, fighting a tank does not fall into that category. It just screams that the show is taking silly fetishes more seriously than the content itself and immediately makes me question whether it is worth watching.
