I say why watch the anime when you can watch the cg movie? I mean game. ( I remember watching a cut scene, fell asleep and woke up later, and it was the same scene I couldn't tell if the player had gone anywhere.)

The highest point are its visuals?

I couldn't get past the first episode because it just looked so terrible.

As just a companion to the first game, it's not a bad little series to have around if you spot it on the cheap, but it's far from essential. The games obviously tell the story better because they didn't have such a limited run time. The visuals never really bothered me too much either. A bit different from what I expected, but nothing that turned me off. I pretty much agree with the review as a whole though.

I have not played the game and I enjoyed Xenosaga, maybe that's the requirement for this game to anime. Because it is a sci-fi they will use some made-up words but I didn't have any problems with that at all, it wasn't even an issue. About the homosexual tendencies, I disagree with that. I thought KOS-MOS was originally created by Shion's father and KOS-MOS displays the same type of protection that a father would. I do agree that it was animated well and it is an action packed 12 episodes.

Wow, here I thought it was 26 episodes for some reason...in just 12, they can't really cover the kind of ground the games did, but regardless, you could get the same experience (passively watching cinematics) as with the game, so I don't see the big difference Laughing

I gave up on the games after getting fed up with the first one, and I can't believe this collection is going for $45. Seriously, that's pushing the price point for a 12-episode series. Oh well.

You got fed up with the first game? The second game was the stink bomb of the short-lived series you know.

I didn't mind the second one. The gameplay was a bit more interesting than the first one (lame AGWS parts aside). The biggest issue for me was actually the character designs and move to more realistic looking graphics. The story wasn't in-itself bad but suffered from a tiny bit of a disconnect from the first game. I think it wouldn't have bugged me nearly as much if they hadn't made such a drastic change in how a lot of the characters (particularilly Shion) looked.

Shion and KOS-MOS ended up on the business end of the ugly stick for 2. I really just hated the gameplay overall though.

The fact that 90% of the available skill sets were junk and you had to do ridiculously mundane fetch quests to open more of them, on top of grinding battles that felt damn near endless really killed it for me. The new break system was a very good idea and it's fun at first, but normal battles wore on for far too long sometimes and the party/enemy balance was just a mess.

Loved the story because Jr. is one of my favorites, but on my next trip through the series I'm just watching the cutscenes I ripped off the discs a year or so ago and watching the story for Episode II.

I've never seen it, but it's on my list of things to check out probably because it has space battles. Should I see it for cheap, I might just blind buy.
