Let's see how he does. At least for me he looks too stubborn to quit as his former party mates.

Yeah, I am not pleased. When you're dealing with the LDP, it's really a least-of-several-evils situation, but Aso was definitely not my top choice. Things tend to pretty much stay the same in Japan no matter what, so hopefully he doesn't screw with things too much...

"Also last year, he said that Americans could not solve the Middle East crisis because they have blond hair and blue eyes"
LOL, a guy like that as a Prime Minister... Truly hilarious.
PS: I'm not American, I'm from South America

Well, I don't agree with everything the man has said. But leaders who offend nobody and kowtow to every group rarely accomplish anything of any worth. So a shake up may be good for the country at this point, maybe something will actually happen.

From what I've heard, he isn't afraid what he thinks is on his mind. Which should make things interesting, especially when he meets with whomever takes over the White House. I can only imagine what he would say to either candidates.

I don't know, aside from being a tactless statement there's a degree of truth to it. People automatically asign a greater degree of trust to people who look like they do. It's an unfortunate, scientifically analyzed reality of human nature.
Racial and ethnic politics aren't exactly easy to deal with when the differences between groups are, literally, color-coded.

Take a road trip North and a slightly annoying hike and you can recitify that situation. Just lay low till the amnesty kicks in.

Don't know much about him but I like that he's not afraid to ruffle people's feathers. I hope he does well by Japan.

Well it sure helped being Japanese in Iraq, didn't it? There will be some interesting times in Japan in the near future then? I'm very sceptical of a political system that allows its leader to be chosen by basically a party commitee, instead of a general election by the people of the nation. That's how our Gordon Brown got to be PM, and Britain is suffering even more than under Blair. It's just not cricket.

He got elected over his Pro-Gundam platform. But knowing politicians, we're gonna get something akin to a Labor.

Yeah. I think he got elected because he's a conservative nationalist nut job and for some reason that resonates with the Japanese people.
Wait.. that's even worse.
