Ocean Waves is my favorite Ghibli movie (their big theatrical stuff doesn’t really catch me). Does a great job of telling an unusually believable, down-to-earth story that avoids stereotype, cliché, and melodrama. It's my impression that a lot of people haven't seen it...I’m kinda surprised it hasn’t shown up in Buried Treasure yet.

And smoking speeds up your time to die. Wink

And so sadly the bell tolls for yet another contributor to anime and manga, but who are they going to replace him with? Crying or Very sad

You sure about that? When was the last time you saw a news report of a new producer, director, or author?

Smoking kills, but you can get lung cancer without smoking.

Yes I know that. But you can't rule out the possibly that Himuro probably did smoke since people in Japan chain smoke quite alot.

While people can get lung cancer even if they don't smoke, (WNBA foward Kim Parrot Superman widow Dana Reeve)smoking makes up about 80% of all lung cancer cases and only 20% were not caused by smoking.

I really hope in Japan that there isn't a trend of people in the anime industry dying from smoking related illnesses like there was of so many american celebrities during the 1980s.

Yes, and of those 20% of cases not caused by directly smoking, 95% were caused by second-hand smoke (Dana Reeve).

So yes, the message is clear: don't smoke, and especially don't smoke around other people, unless you want to kill them.

I am not familiar with her work... how is it? What of hers should I watch/read?
