I think they've announced it a year ago...

Tis' old news alright. Though they've yet to release Summit of the Gods.
They've also licensed Taniguchi's A Distant Neighborhood (Harukana Machi-E), and Korea - As Viewed By 12 Creators.
Stephen told me not to expect A Distant Neighborhood till at least after next Spring...
Also, despite releasing it's spin-off (A Patch of Dreams), Hideji Oda's Coo's World will not be getting released by Fanfare.

It'd be nice if they brought back Hotel Harbor View. I always wanted to read that.

The publisher also revealed the new release dates for its previously announced titles, including Taniguchi's The Ice Wanderer and Other Stories (October)

That would be October 2007. Not news exactly...

Anyone know why the release of Awabi has been put back over a year (going by the dates that were previously posted on Amazon and Book Depository)? Of all their upcoming releases, that was the one I was most looking forward to.

Viz's edition isn't all that rare. Amazon still sells it for list price.

Moomintroll: I'm pretty sure they had some trouble with their distributor last year, which is why they were so inactive (even by their standards).

But how about the news that Fanfare secured the rights for A Distant Neighborhood? That may be the best thing I've read from Taniguchi.

More Taniguchi is always a good thing. What I'm most looking forward to though (other than Awabi of course), is Korea As Viewed By 12 Creators.
The Japan version was fascinating and I can't wait to see some underground stuff coming out of Korea for the first time in English (or at least the first time I'm aware of). Most of the manhwa I've seen thus far has been pretty good on a technical level but fairly generic in terms of content so this collection is intriguing to say the least.
