Very cautiously optimistic about this one. IME, there's a very narrow range of manga that turn out well when adapted into live action, and it's generally those that are just absurd enough to work in live action, without being too absurd. Like Seigi no Mikata, or Gokusen.

And I think Ya Boy Kongming might just be in that same sweet spot. I'll definitely be keeping on eye on this one.

Though no matter what, I'll be gutted if they're not able to license/use Chiki Chiki Bang Bang in the movie.

The live-action adaptations still don't have a worldwide release available, right? It saddens me particularly as they even include the "Ya boy Kongming!" title on the ending title card in the trailer.

Well, TBS (the Japanese channel/station that's been giving us a lot of J-dramas on Netflix, and not the Turner Broadcasting Station/TBS) is not the broadcaster for this drama, so unfortunately, no. Don't expect for this drama to find it's way into Netflix. I don't see anything from Prime Video to indicate they pick up this drama. So yeah, this is very sad to see this drama not being picked up for worldwide streaming when other J-dramas and K-dramas are getting picked up for streaming.

This isn't a television drama. It's a movie.

Oops, I must have been multitasking that I didn't look at this article carefully. So please disregard my previous post. It's hard to say if Netflix or Prime Video will pick up international rights for streaming. Then again, there are a lot of Japanese films that don't or never get pick up for international streaming at all, and that's something that I'll never understand given that Mainland Chinese, Taiwanese, and South Korean films do always get pick up for international release and streaming.
