Hopefully Tubi gets more series that got little to no play in the states. Since CR bought RightStuf the video sets have been harder to track down.

They’ve been pretty overtly letting most of them go out of print (along with the rest of Nozomi’s catalogue). I managed to get a lot of the Gundam blu-rays before they spiked in price but it seems like only the most popular or recent ones are staying in print. |

What the??? OK, that's really unexpected. I didn't think a Gundam TV series would get an official streaming release on a place like TubiTV, I thought it would be on Crunchyroll. I wonder why TubiTV of all places.

Cost. It's almost certainly cost. Gundam is having a relatively big moment right now (WFM ending last year, Seed Freedom this past summer, the new series coming up later this year) so it's a hot IP. X, being a less... desirable... entry in the franchise has the name recognition to draw eyeballs, but won't have the price tag of something like Seed, Wing, some of the UC entries. The fact that ANN is even mentioning that a relatively small outfit like Tubi like this, has a good shot of getting more eyes on their service thus getting them more income over time. Tubi actually has a respectable number of anime, but they're going to be less "big" and current stuff. They do have Nokotan as I think the newest series on there, mixed in with several seasons of Yu-Gi-Oh (I think it was everything up to Vrains), original Naruto, and then old stuff like Yukikaze and even older stuff like Astro Boy. |

I'm still PISSED the second part of the BD has gone OOP before I had the chance (read: money) to buy it.

I understand that, and it makes sense to put Gundam X on there. But at the same time, people and Gundam fans in the US that maybe watching other anime titles on TubiTV are going to ask "if they put Gundam X on there, then when is *insert any past Gundam titles* going to make an appearance on TubiTV?" There's going to be Gundam fans that are going to ask if titles like Turn A Gundam, Gundam Wings, Gundam 0079, Zeta Gundam (which by the way can be also watched on Youtube), ZZ Gundam, Victory Gundam, or Gundam SEED (which by the way is on Netflix) are going to make an appearance on TubiTV all because of Gundam X. I mean somewhere out there in the US, somebody who wanted to watch Turn A Gundam or Victory Gundam and also at the same time watch a random anime on TubiTV is probably looking at this article and is asking and wondering if one of these 2 past Gundam titles will make an appearance on TubiTV. |

I know Tubi's free, but really, 360p?

I just went to TubiTV on PC to see it for myself, and after seeing your comment. And holy crap, you're right, it's in 360p when this series has already gotten an HD makeover on Blu-ray and elsewhere, so what the hell??? Meanwhile at the same time, I'm currently watching Night Head Genesis (of course it's subtitled) on TubiTV, and that one has 720p as a maximum resolution compared to Gundam X's 360p maximum resolution, so what the hell indeed. |

Just finished using Tubi to watch Yukikaze (eh). Not the worst selection; I keep meaning to watch Jin-Roh (and some of the Ozu films they inexplicably have; seriously, they have some great historic cinema). They had The Animatrix of all things until a few months ago.
Would much rather they got Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory instead... |

Well, any Gundam series on TubiTV is good assuming they can give it the maximum resolution of 720p, and not 360p like Gundam X just got. But hey I'm not wasting any time watching Night Head Genesis on Tubi, so that's good enough for me. I think I may add Yukikaze on my itinerary to watch next time. |

TUBI's player is legitimately smoother than almost any other streaming app I've tried, with far fewer ads than Crunchyroll ever had. I'm really hoping they get more and more (if in better resolution). Only real technical issue is that not every dub available has English subtitles available. |

When Crunchyroll (CR) acquired RightStuf, it consolidated a significant part of the anime distribution market. This often leads to tighter control over licenses and distribution channels, making some series harder to access as decisions are centralized. |

Oof. I have to assume they'll do another print-run, eventually? I picked up most of the Gundam BRDs I had left to get last year, but not all of them, and just looking real quick on Amazon... look, I enjoyed 08th MS Team, sure, but not enough to spend $200 on it. |

I was lucky to get mine back in September but it was through a seller at Amazon Marketplace who had one copy left for a good price and things got scary for a bit between when I ordered and when it shipped since it took a few weeks. Aside from G-Witch, I have all the Gundam I need which isn't a lot since I never cared much for most of the franchise. I do sympathize though, especially when I was close to having incomplete series myself with how fast everything went OOP during the Summer. |
