Now THIS is the kind of stuff I like. Obviously strong Kite vibes in the trailer which is fine by me. 2025 can't come soon enough

I was never much of a Kite fan, but this Umetsu style looks very good with modern technology.
I wouldn't mind if we got more similar darker anime like in early 2000s. |

I have to say, considering what happened with Wizard Barristers, the combination of Shaft and Umetsu feels like a deliberate practical joke. I fully expect delays into the early 2030's, at which point the final four episodes will still be mostly raw storyboards.

So Sawa got reborn in 2099 as a (presumed) cyborg? I'll take that. Will be interesting to see if Umetsu has developed any new tricks over the years.

I admit I am an Umetsu fan. Like, Mezzo Forte is probably the best and only actually good thing he's written in my eyes, but it was SO unique for anime style action comedy that I've watched everything else he's been directly involved with both design and directing work because even when it's bad, it has his style written all over it. I don't suspect this to be anywhere close to a masterpiece either, but based on the trailer, it definitely scratches that itch. I am excited.

What a pleasant surprise, even more so if it leads to a franchise! I feel so nostalgic.

I knew the character design was Kite-esque.
I do feel we need a bit of a throwback to the darker, more violent anime of the early 2000's or 1990's, or even late 80's. |

Yasuomi Umetsu's designs are very nostalgic and take me back. But I assume this wont have sex scenes like his past work did.

Wait, SHAFT? What have they produced recently? I know they have a long list of stuff from years ago, but I'm drawing a complete blank on any recent releases.
I don't think ANN encyclopedia can easily answer that since the studio's page neither lets one order the results in any manner, and even less to search-filter them. |

Well, MyAnimeList allows you to do that. Sort by newest, and there you go. https://myanimelist.net/anime/producer/44/ |

Will this be an anthology-type series?
