Honestly, this works great for me. I’ll pick this up.

I'm so glad they're making this. There's constant debate about if you should start with Sky or a later entry due to the fact that you can only play Sky on PC. With this remake, that can finally be put to bed.

Plus, Bestelle is best Trails MC and I can't wait for me people to see why

What's weird with this announcement was that it was on a sizzle reel instead of being on its own section. I don't know why they didn't show it like in the Japanese side.

The trailer is showing 60fps gameplay, so I doubt that it's only gonna be on Switch.

Unless this is Switch 2 footage. Even then, the game being only on Switch would be quite the betrayal to Falcom's largest player base, the PC.

I fully expect it will be on PC as well. I think the reason they showed it on switch is because *alot* of the conversation around starting trails boils down to "where do I start, I don't have a PC so I'm not starting with sky". Showing it on switch shows Sky will be returning to console in the west for the first time since the PSP era

Oh snap, Trails in the Sky remake!

Now it can have a proper dub too!

I just about screamed my head off when I saw this in the Direct. Trails is my second favorite RPG series at this point, and Sky really needed a remake. I played through the PSP versions years ago, and have the PC versions on my Steam Deck. Sky 1's biggest issue is how slow the combat is and that you don't have a lot of active party members for most of the game. Better combat here will help a lot in that regard.

Man, I've clocked about 25 hours in the original, but haven't picked it up in over a year and a half. I keep meaning to get back into it.

All the unplayed RPGs in my library get a little intimidating… just for the ones I haven't started yet, I counted 740 hours of playtime according to HowLongToBeat (ranging from 15 for CrossCode's A New Home DLC to 84 apiece for Persona 4 Golden and Xenoblade Chronicles), and I'm not even sure that's the full list. Plus I've been partway through Final Fantasy X-2 and Tales of Symphonia for years, in addition to Trails in the Sky FC.

I wonder at what point it becomes more of a psychological hurdle to pick up an old save file, and try to remember everything that was going on and get back into the flow of things, than to just start a new one?

Mm, I prefer the retro graphics in this case, but I hope it pulls more people into enjoying the franchise.

Yeah, I'm really on the fence about this one. The PC version has very charming Harvest Moon 64-looking characters, and I have it fully kitted out to do voices and a bunch of extra stuff. I don't mind the idea of 3D exploration and combat, but I question whether or not the new one is going to have the sheer amount of NPC chatter that the PC original has.

Remake, remasters, re-release, port....
We're creatively bankrupt.

Trails in the Sky is one of my favorite games of all time, so it's great to see it getting new life on the Switch.

However, I loved the graphics of the original, and I honestly would've preferred a remaster (maybe an Evolution port?) instead. I'll definitely still preorder this once it's available, but I'm tempering my expectations for now.

Holy crap is this the wrong take on the absolute wrong company. The Trails series is 20 years old this year with thirteen 80+ hour games telling a long, continuing story. That's not quite one new game every two year, but it's damn close. And the years that Falcom hasn't released a new Trails game? They've released a new Ys game, Tokyo Xanadu, Nayuta, etc. Re-releases from Falcom are rare, that's why we're still waiting for Ys V to make its way stateside somehow.

Falcom has made a lot of reamakes and remasters in their time as well. Ys 3's Remake Oath in Felgana is getting a new version as well from what I hear and that was already a remake of a game that came out in the 90s. Ys has a ton of remakes and ports.

It might be new for Trails but it's no less a valid complaint to say a lot of the industry is just remakes and ports these days. Maybe since Daybreak did not do that well they're going back to the older stuff.
