The Japanese term for sagecap isn't the herb but the wise man/wizard type. (And cap as in mushroom caps, I think.)

I honestly have no clue as to why this show came back after a three week break only to take another three week break due to the Olympics. Seemed like there could’ve been a better way to handle this. I’ll have forgotten what happened again.

Huh, I wonder if all the breaks had something to do with it only having 20 episodes instead of the usual 24-26. I've seen comments that either way, two cours is not enough to cover the entire story, but I still hope they did not cut any corners to fit the episode count. Confused

NHK being the "national broadcaster" basically means that major events will always take preference. I recall Ao no Orchestra being on an almost moth long delay because of Koshien.

Koume isn’t looking particularly villainous, especially after the latest episode, but she’s certainly hiding things and she’s smart. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with her character.

Also enjoying that they’re digging into the world more. The messy stopping and starting hurt the show’s momentum somewhat, but the actual episodes are keeping things interesting and hopefully it can run interrupted to the end now, and regain the tension it had towards the end of the previous arc.

Yukiya notes that the warping effect he experiences as he approaches the barrier is familiar before we flash back to him falling off the side of a mountain, so he's been to the border regions before. Nazukihiko says that any yatagarasu who leaves Yamauchi can never return but there's the very real possibility that Yukiya did—and if he could, maybe there are others who have as well.

We saw Yukiya running from something (what, we still don't know yet) with Yukichi on his back in the opening of the series. It's where he first met the kin'u, who told him they might meet again, but to forget, for now, and it seemed to be in the same place as in this episode. Though if so, why didn't he mend the rift then (or at least come back after returning them to their nest)? So maybe not the same place, exactly. At any rate, I don't think he and Yukichi had crossed the boundary, since they were running toward it when they took a tumble down the cliff.

In the last arc, we learned that they can't transform properly if they're wearing clothes that don't have loose enough sleeves to accommodate their wings. So what I want to know is how do they deal with that third leg? Twisted Evil I can't help but wonder every time I see Yukia land in the OP. Embarassed

I can’t believe there are only three episodes left this season. It feels like there’s so much left unanswered. I hope we’ll see a second season before long.

What are the chances these books will ever get licensed for an English translation?

Even knowing that namahage are often depicted as monkeys (or at least the one in Ushio and Tora was) it was still hard to shake the B-movie vibe from my mind reading the novel. It's been really interesting how the anime has managed to make them genuinely scary while not entirely losing that shlocky impact.
