Can't say I didn't expect this after how atrocious Episode 2 looked.

Also, the new character designs are a huge downgrade compared to Season 1.

What the heck? I know it didn't live up to Season 1 in quality but I didn't think it was this bad. I hope for a return in October.

Indeed that's not really surprising sadly, even more knowing that the coming arc has many actions scenes taking place at multiple different setting.

What in the unholy fudge?! I’ll be amazed if other series don’t also end up delaying more of their episodes (despite having some already been delayed due to the Olympics, thus giving them extra time already).

Nah, this time it's not due the Olympics or any external events - but because the whole production of the KimiSen second season is entirely f-ed up beyond the point of keeping it on TV.

And the reasons are simple - Silver Link, which already known for a bunch of recent fumbles such as Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha production, simply overburdened itself with basically anything (with even Yozakura Family, the one with the best condition of their current series in production, have nothing more than a mid-level animation) and given up KimiSen to the Studio Palette (the one behind the infamously "so bad it's turned good" Kamikatsu anime) - which was the last straw to broke the backbone and get the quality down the drain to the point that even production team realize that isn't good to screen that slop on TV.

Face it

The industry as a whole has been on a decline for the past few years now and it will only get worse.

To many productions, not enough staff and to much work with little to meet the demand. The current model is not working as no one wants to work in an industry that demands high sacrificial work with little to no pay and disrespect since now the practice is out in the open.

Also clear as day, the production for this show was not in the top priority either. A lot of show adaptations have been suffering.

Semi-related I guess, but has there been any other cases like this before?
Not much in the loop anymore, but it sounds kinda unprecedented.
I mean, I've seen plenty of titles that got absolutely horrible rushed quality episodes - even final key episodes, more than a few delayed episodes, filler, and all sorts of other strategies, long term delays because of serious problems like poor health or death of staff... but an indefinite mid-season postponement with reasons of "quality improvement"... never really heard of anything like that. Well, can't remember at least.
I can only imagine the chain reaction of issues that this would cause. Almost feels like something that would be unacceptable and cause for a studio closure or something in a not too distant past... with all the weird minutiae that anime production has.

Misfit of a Demon King
Nier
Mob Zombie 100
Golden Kamuei S4
New Gate
Godless World
Ayakashi Triangle
86

Those are the few i can remember but it is becoming more of an issue lately, especially with more specific studios. Either delayed or terrible production quality in animation.

The worst already happened in Winter 2023, where a significant number of shows had a mid-season postponement. And that did not kill the industry. I can say that we're already past the worst. Sure, there will be like 1 or 2 shows per season that will suffer the same fate as this, but the industry isn't as fragile as the fearmongering people would like you to believe.

Ragna Crimson was a mistake. SL was already having problems and airing 2 cours non-stop for Ragna Crimson which is full of very demanding fights, has destroyed them. They they have a shitton of projects and another 2 cours (Yozakura Family) and no wonder they have issues.

They need to stop. Probably won't. But it'd be best for them to focus on few shows for a while

Is this on Kadokawa or Silver Link/Palette? If it's the latter, welp, be careful, you'll build up a bad reputation.

Well, they should use the empty slot to air the last two remaining episodes of Sasayaku at least. Doesn't make much sense repeating episodes from season 1 or whatever.

The timeslot is still owned by the KimiSen production comittee who must deliver KimiSen stuff. They can't air any other show as it's not in contract. And Sasakoi is other people's responsibility, and can't take timeslots owned by other comittees and shows

They air on different TV stations KimiSen 2 (AT-X & Tokyo MX), Sasayaku (TV Asahi and BS Asashi). It Unfortunately, doesn't work like that either. The production committee and the studios decide when something airs and timeslots are negotiated long before the first episode airs. They are very likely contractually obligated to fill the timeslot with something. That's why when an episode is delayed, it's a recap, rebroadcast or they have they have a cast interview and promote the show.
