Awesome, three of my favorite shows on top, with Gurren Lagann right behind them. Glad to see the titles are popular. Too bad StrikerS does not have a chance to get licenced since Geneon went belly up

They wouldn't have had companies complete the production work on the first two seasons if they didn't want to release it. I'm hoping that someone gets it soon (crosses fingers TRSI).

Man! Gundam on the top again? I guess '00' must be good.
I see 'Lucky Star' ranking up there again. Can't wait for it to be released here. |

Even Lucky Star and Kyoto Animation combined is no match for the name Gundam. Some things will never change no matter how much the fans do.
Also, for a studio that people on blogs and such often harp about for apparently being so abysmally awful at creating series that engage people in a positive manner, Sunrise has 4 series on there of different target demographics and genres, which is almost half the top selling list. Well it was a "Limited Edition" for all we know their entire stock sold out, and they simply couldn't out sell gundam which may have been a normal edition and produced in larger amounts........

If Mononoke sells its usually 10k avg and Gundam 00 is... let's say 50k this one of the better weeks for anime sales without a movie being there.
I'm very interested to see Gundam 00's first week sales, I'll be shocked if it doesn't sell more than Geass DVD 1.
Duh!? EDIT You might've started lording it over KyoAni a bit too soon Kaio with these first week figures.
Now if Gundam 00 can't outsell Code Geass I wonder what ramifications that will have on Sunrise.... Does Geass get more seasons? Does SEED get another shot to rake in the cash... CG DVD 1 ended up selling 63k in total so if we double 00 dvd 1 it's at 44k which is the same as the Geass overall dvds avg. First volume tends to always be the strongest so at this pace it looks like Gundam 00 will be at 35-40k which will be behind Code Geass and Haruhi seasons 1. More importantly it's way behind Seed destiny and SEED. I'm also expecting Geass 2 to make a similar jump that destiny did which is about a 10k increase in avg sales. I'm sure 00 will rake in way more money than Geass when you look at models and other merchandise but it's still a big drop going from SEED Destiny avg of 65k to what may be 35-40k. |

I'm currently watching Gundam 00 and I'm really enjoying it! Good to see it doing well in Japan!

Below are Oricon DVD sales figures for the Top 5 selling anime DVDs in Japan during the week of January 23-29, 2008.
01. (03.) Mobile Suit Gundam 00 #1 January 25 Bandai Visual - 22,847 DVD copies sold 02. (06.) Lucky Star #8 Limited First Edition January 25 Kadokawa - 20,282 DVD copies sold 03. (07.) Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS #7 January 23 King - 18,129 DVD copies sold 04. (09.) Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann #7 January 23 Aniplex - 15,200 DVD copies sold 05. (10.) Ookiku Furikabutte #8 (Limited Production Edition) January 23 Aniplex - 14,986 DVD copies sold (Rankings in parentheses are overall DVD sales rankings.) Animation Program Average Television Household Audience Ratings in the Kantou Region of Japan (Tokyo, Yokohama, Kawasaki, Saitama, Chiba, etc.) 3.8% (4.6%) 2008/01/19 (Saturday) 6:00pm-6:30pm TBS Mobile Suit Gundam 00 5.4% (*.*%) 2008/01/19 (Saturday) 6:00pm-6:25pm NHK-ETV Anime Major (TV ratings in parentheses are TV ratings from the week before.) If a post, which has been copied and pasted on various threads at 2ch, by a reliable television programming poster at 2ch can be trusted, the doroku (Saturday 6pm) time slot on TBS/MBS for animation will move - and in effect, end - in Spring 2008. Many presume that the apparent demise of doroku is because of low TV ratings of anime series airing in the time slot during the past few years (since BLOOD+). |

Wow Major slaughtered Gundam 00 and is probably the main cause for Dokoru's death.
