Rest in peace, Taiki Matsuno. 56 is way too young to pass on...

I wonder if it's possible to find Japanese dubbed SpongeBob with English subtitles. I'd like to hear his version, especially from the first movie. Did he sing the Goofy Goober Rock song?

Also, he was diagnosed with the COVID-19 back in 2021. Rest in peace, man!

RIP Sad

I wasn’t familiar with his name, but I definitely liked some of his roles.

I am so sad right now, Precure finally had major good news that we would see a international relaunch, and then this happens. Fresh is the one season where castmembers die. Hiromi Tsuru, Kaoru-chan's seiyuu and now this.

It's funny, the only performance of his I'm personally familiar with is Trebol from One Piece, which is just about the most intentionally-annoying voice I've ever heard, but he did a great job with it. Rest in peace.

If you want to see Matsuno do his best as Trebol, see the scene where he makes Doflamingo shoot his own father. The annoying voice becomes truly vile and disgusting and not just annoying. Matsuno played so many heroic roles but Trebol was a standout gross and vile villain.

I'll admit that I only ever saw the 1980s English-language TV dub that aired on TV Ontario back circa 1983-1984-ish but, according to the encyclopedia, Taiki Matsuno, credited under his birth name Tatsuya Matsuno, was apparently also the voice of the title character in the 1978-1979 The Little Prince anime based on characters from the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a character he voiced when he was just 10 years old.

RIP

Another Inuyasha alumni gone. Loved him as Koga in that show plus he voiced my favorite Blackbeard Pirate Laffitte in One Piece. RIP, Matsuno-san.

Oh...I'm really only familiar with his work as Manjoume, but RIP.

(GX has really been taking a few hits in recent years, between this, the death of Hiromi Tsuru (Yubel), and of course original series creator Kazuki Takahashi.)

56 is far too young.

Thank you for all the memorable and fun characters you brought to life Matsuno-san. RIP.
