OK, I really enjoyed this one. Curious how they’ll expand things to fit a longer movie runtime.

I don't think they'll expand it beyond what's necessary. A theatrical release doesn't mandate a runtime. There are 30–60 minute movies being released almost every season.
But also: Hell yeah! About time! |

A solid one and done manga but it needs a rewrite to get to a feature runtime. Or make an 80-minute film.
Not MAPPA, despite them saying that they want to heavily invest in Fujimoto and adapt the whole catalog. Reality finally set in, eh? |

I honestly feel like the story can be told in 50-60 minutes. If it get extended to 80-90 minutes, I worry that the pacing would be messy.

I'm not sure why you guys think it'll necessarily be extended to 80+ minutes.
Here are just some examples of movies (i.e. theatrical releases) from this and the past couple seasons with runtimes under one hour (as reported by MAL since ANN doesn't track runtimes):
Some of these aren't even adaptations so they weren't in any way obligated to be so short. It's just a common thing for anime released in theaters to be under feature length. |

Fingers crossed for Sayanora Eri to also get an anime film adaptation.

I'd make an awesome OVA. It's length is perfect for what it is. Just give it a nice animation budget and it's gold.
Goodbye Eri is likely also somewhere in the cards. The manga itself is cinematic as heck, practically entirely told in a handheld camera style, so it'd be interesting to see what they could do. They could even opt for live-action. I'd personally go with a photorealistically lit CGI anime mixing mo-cap and keyframed. |
