What the fudge did they do to Flag?

Well, no surprise they'd at least have the most prominent Japanese DC character in the Suicide Squad anime.

I'm kind of bummed they have top tier seiyuu voicing generic fantasy characters. Then again this is Tappei, so he can probably do something with them.

Clayface, Harley Quinn, and Katana are the characters I'm most interested in seeing in the upcoming anime. I hope Captain Boomerang shows up somewhere in the show, even if he's just a background character that didn't get Isekai'd.

Royals are usually important characters in modern isekai.

Not that we know of. I have no idea how that's gonna be handled by Warner Bro, let alone where it'll be streaming.

That is literally nothing new. Why are you acting like it is? It's not a big deal in the slightest.

I just wish they were voicing actual DC characters.

Well, it looks better than Kill the Justice League.

Although thin Amanda Waller just feels off.

I couldn´t care less about the Re:ZERO writer but SS needs a W right now to not get adaptation blacklisted.

WB is beyond afraid to give David Ayer a micro-budget to master and professionally edit his cut but the 2016 film was the only time when the IP made money and hit the zeitgeist. Just look and which Deadshot made it into the anime and Kill Rocksteady. It´s quite funny that Peacemaker made it into the anime and not the new game. He isn´t even part of any data mining efforts so Gunn´s financially devastating vanity projects and this show are it for him. The adaption high water mark still remains the clearly not canon Assault on Arkham (Arkham Batman allows a bunch of security guards to be killed in front of his eyes to now blow his cover identity and King Shark dies) and of course that one ep of JLU.

Uh thats because the game's development majorly started around the time the movie came out and they decided to pivot off it. Synergy is not an indication of the movie's success, especially since the game's synergy with the Ayer is widely lambasted for trying to pivot off a movie no one cares about. Deadshot's appearance in the game is especially singled for being such a blatant case of synergy and maligned for it. I have not seen a single seen a single person praise the game for it.

Also "financially devastating projects" are you serious? Peacemaker was both well received and maintained high views when it ran, with season 2 already in production. Its more well received than the cruddy Ayer film.

Not if you remember this isn’t the first time they slimmed her down (though this version isn’t super model thin). That and Waller’s weight isn’t really a key part of her character despite what people may think.

They’ll likely keep making animated projects in North America so I don’t see this happening if this tanks.

I mean considering the nonsense with the Snyder cut are we going to hold this against them?

Granted apparently Ayer got screwed over by the studio more than Snyder did who simply put out one and a half bad movies. But still.

You sure you didn’t mean to say Dwayne Johnson’s financially devastating vanity projects?

Gunn’s only project thus far was the 2nd Suicide Squad movie and while that didn’t make as much money as Ayer’s film it at least had the excuse of being release right around the time of the Pandemic.

I'd argue it is fairly important because she's one of the only characters in comics that doesn't have a supermodel's body, and just by virtue of that, it makes her stand out (not to mention adds some variety in character design for the team that again, is rarely seen is comics, and is refreshing). In a lot of comic scenes, it was used in a way to highlight her character and make an impact. The expectation in the 80s was the person in charge of a government squad was some white muscleman and it being a fat, short black woman who nevertheless came in and could intimidate everyone was definitely intentional by her creators. I don't think images like this would be as iconic if Waller was built like your typical comic book girl.

The first time she was represented as thin was in the widely maligned New 52 version, and then the Suicide Squad movies which didn't do much with her and this fans consider it kind of synonymous with the bad writing that happened around her character. I don't think it's a coincidence that a bad understanding of the character is often paired with her being thin, and all her best written stories are ones where she's not. It's not surprising Hollywood doesn't want fat people in their movies, and it's not surprising they didn't get the character either. I know this wildly controversial in an anime forum, but not every character needs to be traditionally hot. Some of them can look different, it adds texture to the world.
