What does "limited job" mean? I mained Beastmaster (specifically BST/WHM) in FFXI and have been eagerly anticipating the job being added to FFXIV. Please don't let me down!

(edit: looked it up, they're just for fun and not for doing anything meaningful like playing through the story. Booo...)

Generally with Limited Jobs, they're far more powerful, complex and customizable than regular jobs and they do have special prizes for running really hard content with them, but in order to capture the Job "fantasy" they don't balance with mainline play. I think it's generally a good compromise, since Beastmaster is likely going to have a whole Pokemon Trainer-style mechanic that wouldn't work with how normal Jobs are set up.

It's the same with Blue Mages: they're a Limited job, which means you can't use them in certain scenarios/quests because the class is intentionally designed as a joke class and the game just isn't balanced around them being involved. For reference, Blue Mages have a level cap that's a whole ten levels lower than any other class.

I get why they dont do it but imo normal jobs should have the customization of limit jobs

I was a Blue Mage main in XI and feel the pain. Same with lack of true support jobs in the game.
