And to Sonic the Hedgehog (his debut in the parade), four years prior to Barney.

I was watching the parade this morning but didn't see the actual accident. I was wondering why his straw hat looked like it needed starch

This thankfully didn’t hit the main body. The hat can be stitched up (and the balloon likely modified if it returns next year). Sonic and Barney were completely taken out of commission.
Also, Al Roker pronounced Luffy correctly!

It wasn’t even that bad. He just had a bucket hat look. Snoopy and Dan (from Illumination’s Migration) both had holes too. Snoopy’s eyes were completely covered by his deflated hat. And that walking Geoffrey the Giraffe balloon.

I see the Ryokugyu joke has already been made, so I got nothing I guess.

Why in the world did they not trim back the trees along the parade route, especially if this happened before...

It's a moot point considering how mediocre the whole parade was this year. There wasn't anything the parade brought that people hadn't already seen years prior.

LMAO that's hilarious. Honestly, I'll never understand why we continue this dumb tradition anyway...
