From MAPPA (Days) to Maho Film (this). Sounds like a downfall for Tsuyoshi Yasuda to me.

I called that this would get an adaption, the magazine this is serialised in seems to make an adaption of all their veterans.

So this is set in the same setting in Ruruno Kenshin?

is it like a prequal or side story? or its own thing just set in the same world?

I don't think there is any connection between the two, it's just the historical setting that's the same.
