I haven't had my coffee yet, so it's probably just me, but that title was oddly hard to follow. But reading the article, it kind of feels like Miyazaki is being mentioned here just to make this newsworthy? Like, there's nothing relevant about this game to link it back to that instance.
But the game itself doesn't sound so peculiar. I recall seeing a few games like that, one of which was pretty popular on JP Twitter for a while. Looked like cute, laidback fun, but I never figured out what it was called. I'm curious if this game will find much impact of it own among the other sea of similar games.

I had the same thought. I guess ANN is desperate for clicks now.

Sadly feels like it. I wouldn't normally feel that way, but this was such a reach.

Yeah. That headline is pretty dumb and also feels somewhat mean spirited.

To be honest, I'm more distracted by the title saying "Miazaki" instead of Miyazaki...........
I think there's been a number of games like this. I remember there was... spore? or something? that was similar, and then no doubt many since.

No, but I vaguely remember that one! I searched a bit and apparently, it was called "Tap Tap Fish - AbyssRium."

For anyone confused, Miyazaki is in the title because he called the developer's first simulation "an insult to life."
From what I can tell, this article is about a guy/team who do 3D simulations with AI and they showed a simulation project to Miyazaki. Unsurprisingly, Miyazaki hated it and publicly insulted their project in a documentary. So this team got publicly humiliated by the biggest animation director the world's ever known. Now, 7 years later, the guy/team are back with gusto. They've made a new simulation that is apparently cuter than the old one that will release on Steam this year.
