well, if it's not the direct editor that's the issue, it's not likely to be a content issue. Looks like a money issue, either it's paycheck bounced, or there's a royalty dispute.

"It'll be there next month" doesn't sound like the paycheck bounced, so probably a royalty dispute.

Look, no, you're overlooking personal-behaviour issues from some specific individual as a possibiity.

Honestly I get a clear impression that the statement is intended to suggest to the reader a specific scenario without stating it outright.

(Think about possible explanations and think about the statements and actions people would make in relation to them, see if those would match what we see. Note also editorial hasn't made a statement and *also* isn't objecting to the mangaka's plan; this is important o think. There's really only one -- well, a couple of broadly-similar -- actions that would give what we see here, I think)

Edit: honestly I'm just guessing and the possibility isn't the only one, but...

Yeah, I feel like if it was a financial issue, the author would have picked a different way to say it without actually saying it. Going on to specify that it's nothing to do with her direct editor does suggest a different editor or someone higher up in the editorial hierarchy poking their nose in where it really wasn't appreciated. I've got my own ideas about what it might be, but what I'm reading between the lines might not be accurate.
