He's originally from our world. He knows slavery is wrong. Gross.

I have no idea what this series is about, but the muscular cat woman seems good.

It's okay to just come out and say "Hey, you know, slavery is pretty bad."
Easily one of the worst aspects of a lot of modern isekai.

What the hell. Of course authors don’t necessarily have the same viewpoints as their characters but that’s a weird ass stance to make

I feel like the author needs to watch/read Vinland Saga.
Also, no surprise about Luke. He is a Greyrat after all.

Not sure if I did a double take because I thought since he was born in the modern world, I would have assumed him thinking "slavery is bad" at the bare minimum was an easy lay-up; OR just at the idea of the author being straight up like "yeah my protagonist doesn't care about slavery."

I mean, I can at least believe Rudy is pretty dispassionate or unfeeling about anything that doesn't immediately involve him or people he's close to.

Did I miss something in Attack on TItan about slavery approved? This actually reminds me more of Shield Hero but season 2 went even worse with Naofumi gaining another slave without any complaints from the guys but instead as a benefitt

They're probably referring to the absolutely terrible takes that have been thrown around about how AoT is actually fascistic.

I disagree. Rudeus got isekai'd and its a normal thing in that world. Perhaps early on he saw it as immoral, but he is now almost an adult (by our standards) in terms of living in that world and experiencing how life works there. Its a normal thing for that world, and it's shown that he sympathizes with the slaves, but he can't change the inner workings of how the world works. Magonote took a pretty bold stance on the issue and that takes some cajones. Rudeus clearly doesn't agree with it, but it's more the lesser of two evils in a world that doesn't forgive even the smallest misgivings.

Slavery is bad, but let's be honest What could rudy do in this situation? Sure he can free them easily but there is consequences to that action. First most of those slaves would be killed or captured again and be put in worse situation then before. Then there rudy he would most likely be Retaliated against by slave owners or hunters.and If there laws that protect slaves businesses it would just bring Unwanted attention to rudy. Also rudy doesn't like attention and perfers to stay out of politics or people problems unless it involves his friends.
It's shit Situation but It's not simple. Not like those folk tales where hero saves everyone.
But I'll say this if Ruijerd was there rudy would most likely get involved saving them.

What a complete load of putrid bollocks. To any Jobless fan who, in the future, burbles on positively about Rudeus's "growth as a character," just know that I really disagree with you.

People who have this viewpoint (not referring to you, but if Rudy sees the world this way) come off as so short-sighted and arguably extremely selfish. Anyone could potentially become someone you end up getting close to so it just comes off as ignorant to behave cold towards anyone you don’t know. Also, truly selfless behavior only comes from helping and showing empathy towards those you don’t know as helping people you know always comes with the benefit of seeing people you love be happy, but it’s helping strangers that is truly selfless as you get nothing out of it except for being a good person.
This is why I never really felt Darth Vader should be considered to have redeemed in Star Wars. Saving a family member is something even some morally terrible people would do. It’s saving someone you don’t have an emotional connection to that would truly show integrity.
Like, I’ve not watched MT because the backstory made me REALLY not want to follow this lead (especially given what he did in the original web novel, as someone with two nieces myself, I’d only get satisfaction seeing Rudy spend a good time in jail and nothing else), but this just killed any interest I had. I’m sorry, a good deal into Season 2 and the character’s development is so weak he had this sort of mindset? Look, Subaru owned up to his shortcomings before Season 1 of Re:Zero even finished, and his past life was NOWHERE near as self-centered as Rudy was from what I’ve read. Ugh, wake me up when a version of this MT anime with amazing animation and solid world building has a lead character I don’t want to see facing a line up of characters gearing up to slap him like that one scene in the movie Airplane!
