I wish that TMS would actually DUB the Lupin III anime they put out on Blu-Ray now. Even Lupin Zero couldn't get one, and that's brand spanking new! Seven Days Rhapsody is decent enough, but it's a low purchase priority for me. I'm still waiting for Alcatraz Connection on Blu-Ray. I'd love a dub for it, but at this point, I'm not holding my breath.

Regarding Overman King Gainer, I'm assuming when they mention "A prior BD release elsewhere never materialized", they must mean how Sentai Filmworks had it and never did anything with it. One of those many licenses from after Bandai Entertainment went away that got picked up but then unused.
Glad we're finally getting it, and I hope for more Sunrise stuff. Among those Bandai Entertainment licenses, I'd definitely love to see Brain Powerd and Betterman again (hey, they did just put out GaoGaiGar, so that must make sense next, right?) |

It really sucks how Bandai screwed Sentai over. The only thing Sentai managed to release from that was the Big O (probably because CN owns part of the rights) because it was the only thing where Bandai would actually give Sentai any of the materials, everything else, Bandai just sat on until the license expired and (presumably) they had to refund the license fee. I don't understand the mindset of running out the clock on stuff you licensed to someone else because that is a pretty terrible way to make money and it's likely to get any future licensors to put a time limit stipulation into future contracts. |

What about the announcment from the separate Digimon/Discotek Otakon panel?
Don't have access to twitter anymore & very curious to know what else Discotek announced there... |

"Native HD transfers from film masters, for some reason."

Is that what happened? Sounds plausible, but I'd never heard this before. Did someone at Sentai say this? |

Memes.
Watch native HD masters of Ginguiser exist too. |

Not sure what exactly happened afterwards, but there was a crowdfunding effort to preserve Ginguiser's masters back in 2021 that did make its goal, similar to what happened to Chargeman Ken (the very idea of an HD Blu-Ray for Ken only exists because of a successful crowdfunding effort in Japan that happened after Discotek's DVD release).
There doesn't look to be a Blu-Ray release for Ginguiser yet, though. |

Yeah, I think so. As is, it literally doesn't make sense for Sentai to get the licenses and then to not release them, especially since they tend to have a pretty short turnaround for releases. Sunrise/Bandai just taking so long to send over the materials that the license expired is pretty much the only explanation. Bandai has a history of randomly screwing over licensors for no apparent reason. Like, the reason Giant Gorg didn't get a release before Discotek got it was because they gave Bandai USA these really blue-tinted masters (which Discotek did not get and the Japanese side release did not use), and Funimation got hit with Crest/Banner of the Stars, since Bandai gave them incredibly crappy quality masters and shortly after did a blu-ray release in Japan. The blu-ray isn't like, amazing, but it's not nearly as bad looking as the Funimation DVDs. |

That sounds like an assumption. I can understand why that'd be assumed, but unless there has been any real official commentary on it, it still appears we don't actually know what happened. Sentai also released Dunbine, Xabungle, VOTOMS, and Ideon from Sunrise, so there could've been other reasons they didn't use most of the rescued titles.
(Also the blue tinted master story was about Layzner) |

For those that need a reminder of the other titles Sentai licensed at the same time as Overman King Gainer:
