Speaking of ID, I talked to the director of "Tokyo Drift" last night for "Finishing the Game", and he admitted that he and one of the writers(or producers) were familiar with the show.

Yeah, I am bummed too that the Rockies lost. I would love for any other team, but the Red Sox or Yankees to win the world series. In fact, I would rather see the Angels win again but we got swept by the Red Sox too. I also agree with you with Hell Girl. The show can be repetitive after awhile, but it does get better in Season two. |

You know my driving has been getting better over the past year or two. God forbid I don't speed like I used to. I think I just haven;t had any good car music so I think I'll go buy the Initial D soundtracks now and start thinking I'm Vin Diesel in my Acura RSX. Who cares about a clear drivers record right?!
Now with Hellgirl is it episodic? I think it is (haven't tried it yet as it's on my infinitely long Netflix list) and if so I wonder if it at any point gets a serious plot or does it stay episodic throughout? Just curious. |

Initial D is great, it's one of the few series i can watch over and over again for some reason.

The early episodes of School Rumble are a bit hit and miss, but some of the later episodes feature one of the best athletic festivals I've seen in any anime. It's taken to such a dramatic extreme that you might find yourself laughing and crying at the same time. |

You forgot to mention how Hell Girl completely ruins all of its episodes by killing any emotion or suspense that it might have built with extremely corny attempts at ironic punishments for each episode's villain. (as compared to brutal and satisfying punishments with a twist of irony, like they should have been)
lol talking baseballs Shame, too. The build up to each of the ferrying aways were great and made you feel sorry for the victim and hate their antagonizer. (aside from the first episode, anyways) I probably would have really enjoyed Hell Girl if the climaxes weren't so gut-bustlingly terrible. |

Well, look on the bright side ... three years ago they swept us and two years later we let our frustration out on the Tigers to take what was rightfully ours. Aside from Remi, a fairly timely Shelf Life considering the current state of sale affairs. Take Initial D and School Rumble off hold and leave Hell Girl for the time being ... gotcha. |

it's nice to see small collections too.
Good job. I liked the column as always. Reminds me of once when I was shopping in Target and this little boysaid: "Hey lady you can't shop here! This is place isn't for-." His mom quickly shushed him and looked scared but I can only dream of what he meant by that statement. Hmmm...kids say the darndest things.
I've been trying to figure out what that show was called. It'll do wonders for me in another thread. Thank you. |

I dunno, once the storyline gets (somewhat) continuous in the first season, i thought it was much better than the second season. The second season made me very frustrated at times. If I had a shelf big enough for all my DVDs, I would send in a picture. That's not to say I have a ton of DVDs, that's me saying my shelves are tiny. |

Yeah, I saw the first few episodes ages ago. I recall two problems with it.
As people have said, it was very repetitive. Not just because it was episodic but also after the first episode you know whats gonna happen every time. Unless maybe later they have a twist where they spoiler[don't choose to call her]. Otherwise, each time they spoiler[build up but in the end they call her and she comes (in the exact same sequence BTW) and takes the other person to hell.] Maybe it goes in a different direction later on but unless it does that quickly I would expect there to be a lot of boringness to suffer through first. Also, I felt each time like these people were awfully stupid. It would have been much better if they were actually truely out of options. They were definitely in a pickle, but resorting to that seemed pretty silly. If they just had some balls they might have actually been able to solve their own problems. |

I'll join you in crying over the Rockies, so close and yet so far. At least they actually made into the WS. Perhaps this is is a sign for a bright future. But the Avs won, so it wasn't too bad a day.

The problem with Hell Girl is that you can skip the first 20 episodes, and still get a good story. Actually, you'd get a better story. You'd skip all of the episodes that are just, "Sending people to hell" while at the same time getting to see the story of the Hell Girl. It's a bit frustrating in that regard, especially since the reasons for calling her get pretty weak after just the first handful of episodes.
That said, it's still a very interesting show, and I'll be purchasing it once November begins. I'll probably go ahead and preorder it all. |

Totally agreed. I go back to watch a race I liked and then end up watching for hours... XD This show got me (a girl, btw) into tuner cars. I am now the proud owner of a 1990 Nissan 240sx and I couldn't be happier XDDD |

I really don't care that Hell Girl is repetitive, the stories themselves I really enjoy and seriously it raises important moral issues. |

Is going to hell oneself worth sending another?
Check out Pumpkinhead. Great little horror title starring Lance Henriksen as a dad whose son is accidentally killed. They made at least one sequel, but I didn't see that one. I'd already decided from this site's synopsis & the fact all the VA's pretty much are one shots (some good names, though) that it's episodic & I'll wait for the box. It's likely as much hit & miss as the little vignettes in Tales of Terror From Tokyo, so there's probably at least one really good ep out of 4, maybe 5 if we're not lucky, & every other ep if we are. I listen to the Takahashi Brothers cd at work a lot since it's Tomokazu Seki & Takehito Koyasu. And the songs Shinichiro Miki did for the soundtrack. My teen likes Nobuyuki Hiyama's song. My Initial D Collection has a lot of holes, made up of used copies purchased from GameStop. I don't think I have much from the 2nd box, so it might be worth buying, though all the car-talk is mind-numbing. THe plus is the Japanese cast is pretty solid. |
