I hope one day SEGA work again with Toei, I really liked the opening and intro for Sonic CD. Or even Production I.G for something like the opening to Sonic Riders.

Tyson Hesse mentioned that this opening was animated by a Japanese team.
I really wonder what animators were involved, but we probably won't know until the game releases and we can see the credits...

Pretty cool! I wouldn't mind seeing more 2D Sonic animation.

There's something off about the animation, I think. Every single individual frame looks on-model and gorgeous, but in motion, it feels jarring. I'm not sure if it's the camera movement or the framerate or what, but several parts of it feel hard to follow unless I slow it down frame by frame, especially toward the beginning when Sonic is bouncing around as the camera moves left and right. I had to replay it several times before my mind could process it smoothly. Is it just me?

Either way, 2D animation is always appreciated, and the art looks great.

I can kinda see what you mean. The biggest problem I'm seeing is the fact the camera/background is not moving in 1s, but in 3s, I think? Which does give it a very jittery feeling overall. Also, that shot zooming out of Eggman looked awkward, like there were supposed to be more in-betweens there.

It's kind of amazing to see how far they've come since the disastrous Sonic 4 in trying to cash in on the classic Sonic. Mania, Origins, and Superstars are my favorite Sonic games since SA2.
