this was a fun read. thanks, writers!

i'm personally enjoying how different it is from what's airing currently: its darker, gorier, more nuanced take on typical shōnen formulas, the refreshing lack of romance between the two leads, and (for me at least) an ensemble cast that feels fully human and balanced while still giving proper weight to the protagonists. i've seen too many shōnen series spend whole arcs with characters i don't give a shit about before finally circling back around to the heroes, who often aren't fleshed out enough for my taste.

I thought it a shame that Kaku Yuji wasn't able to replicate Hell's Paradise success with his last work, Ayashimon. On paper it sounds interesting enough - fighting modern day demon Yakuza in ritual duels - but it got cancelled after 25 chapters.
