Honestly when I see a group of real life grown up dudes changing into color-coded suits to fight evil I think of Super Sentai, not Precure.

I'm glad to see them supporting male Cures so quickly after the introduction of Cure Wing and that this isn't going to be just a one time thing for Precure. As someone who always wanted more magical boys that aren't just parody shows, I'm very happy about this.

The whole magical girl transformation genre is inspired by toku shows. Naoko Takeuchi made Sailor Moon because she wanted to make Super Sentai for girls.

Something tells me this is still going to be aimed at a female demographic rather than a male one, though so more like a male idol series.

Kinda reminds me of when the Pretty Rhythm series started catering to teen girls/women who grew up with the series by forming King of Prism. Interested to see if this turns into anything bigger. Alongside having their first adult main cast Cure this year and the Yes 5 and Mahou Tsukai spin-offs, it looks like Toei's really trying hard to cash in on the nostalgia market.

A magical series that's about girls kicking butts and saving the world with magical powers for 20 years. And how Toei celebrates its 20th anniversary? By adding magical boys. I know that some male fans feel that they want to see some magical boys but that's no excuse to turn Precure into a generic series about magical girls and boys.

I guess a female series doesn't have the right to stick to its foundation forever, to be its own thing, and must have some boy spinoff eventually. Meanwhile, Japan (and the whole world for that matter) already has endless number of boy-centric franchises with barely any prominent girls and girl spinoffs are almost non-existent.

Oooh, this is interesting! Nice to see Toei dabbling into some new ground with this. I hope this new tenure is successful!

Did you know many Shonen Jump titles have magical boys such as One Piece and Dragonball? I think you will like them even though they may not be appealing and effeminate enough for you.

One Piece and Dragonball and similar shonen titles are not really tonally or aesthetically comparable to Precure and it's imo it's disingenuous to draw a comparison like that. Believe it or not, there are lots of little boys who like stuff more in line with Precure and I think it's cool and overall a positive thing for them to have a branch of it that includes boys like them.

It’s genuinely creepy how certain adult fans of this franchise dress up their interest in ogling animated preteens by pretending to be feminist. No one is taking your girl Cures away. Please calm down.

First male Cure and now an all male Cure stage spinoff? Wonder if they'll get any actual animation about it.

Sure. But it still isn't super sentai... until you remove most of the differences such as in this case.
In the end it's just a stage play like the many others that get a headline and are promptly forgotten forever, but this sure is A Choice.

Curious what you mean by most of the differences when the only difference between the setup for this (minus the different medium) and any other part of PreCure I can tell is that it’s high school boys instead of (mostly) middle school girls.

Being highschool boys instead of middleschool girls yeah (with what I imagine to be some differences in tone given the target audience) plus being actual real physical men instead of animated 2D characters.

This is definitely for older women and not little girls, Toei's going hard on catering to adult audiences now.
