Really disappointed that Peter Cullen and Frank Welker won't be able to voice Optimus Prime and Megatron in the animated prequel film, Transformers One.
Would've rather had Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry voice different characters in the movie.

That's probably one of the most star-studded yet random voice cast I have seen for a Transformers production.

It is a prequel movie, so it makes sense they have younger voices.
Anyways, I wasn't expecting them to be using Unicron here. He never had a role in Beast Wars other than the time the Vox used his image to speak to Primal.
I also wasn't expecting to see a shot with the Twin Towers in there so casually. I guess it's been long enough that it's okay to do that?

The reaction to the casting is very reminiscent of the Mario movie casting, in that it seems to have ignited another debate about celebrity casting vs professional voice actors. It seemed to work out OK for Mario, but I can understand annoyance with the people going “David Kaye portrayed a younger Optimus on TV for years, do you need the guy who hasn’t really had a successful film outside of playing Thor to get the eyeballs?”

TRUCK NOT MONKE!
Lol. Anyone else remember that from when Beast Wars first came out? God I'm old. Anyway, actually looking forward to this movie.

Pretty sure anyone complaining about this for that reason doesn’t care about Chris Hemsworth success at the box office. They’re just indignant about the usual voice actors for one of the few productions involving the IP not voicing their usual characters. Eventhough as you alluded to this isn’t a new routine with the Transformers franchise.
Also as a sidenote it’s funny to see the people who originally complained about the SMBM voice cast being largely accepting (or indifferent) to the final product considering both the original criticism of the movie when it was first announced. And the butthurt over Super Mario Sunshine being the first of the video games to have mostly full voice acting.

I was just a small child when Beast Wars originally came out, I was a big fan of the series and even Beast Machines, those were the shows that introduced me to Transformers. It wasn't until many years later that I went to the Tranformers Wiki and saw the "Trukk not monky" article. I guess this happens everytime a show is rebooted for a new generation, the 2003 Ninja Turtles cartoon was also my first exposure to the franchise and I also know that some fans of the older cartoon didn't like it.

I was 12 years old when Beast Wars came out and didn't really have access to internet forums. That being said, I'm 100% sure Frieza was behind some of the posts bemoaning Monke Optimus.

I was 9 when it came out. No idea what it was at first since in Canada it was called Beasties.

And now with the Beast Wars characters in both the Netflix War for Cybertron series and the upcoming Rise of the Beast Film being nothing like their original counterparts us Beast Wars fans can now be the crotchety old jaded fans snorting how this is not our Primal. As far as the animated film, it could be interesting, but the last good Transformers animation was Prime; but even that had its share of problems like the Bumblebee not being allowed to talk for movie synergy. The Bumblebee movie was nice, but Rise looks like a step backwards as well. Meh, I'll wait and see. Don't mind them not using the G1 voice cast. Many people have voiced these characters already.

Complaints about voice actor changes are always a vocal minority. Some louder than others, but most people aren't going to care. Especially for older franchises where most modern fans probably never watched or experienced the original iteration of it.

I was told it is just a running meme to complain about voice changes
