Whoa!!! This is the first time I've heard of a Hollywood movie being shown in Japanese dub in US theaters, this is quite a feat!!!

OK, that would explain why the Japanese dub screening is limited to certain locations, and not on a general release.

The Mamoru Miyano Mario Experience. It's only coming to North America though. I wished they would have included Australia, I really wanted to watch the movie again in Mario Movie in JP dub. Mamoru Miyano voicing Mario will be too epic.

I haven’t been to San Francisco in years, but weird that it’s not playing at the AMC Kabuki right there in Japantown?
EDIT: And the Mercado is in San Jose, not San Francisco, for pete’s sake.

This seems worth it just for the cast alone.

I feel like that might be an error, and it actually does have subtitles. Are there really enough fluent Japanese-speakers in the US to run a video-game animated movie with no translation in like 10 different locations? Although, realistically, you probably don't need to understand more than about 5% of the dialog to keep track of the plot, unless this film has far more nuance than I'm assuming.

Really hope this means the Japanese version of the Mario movie will be included on the disc when the DVD/Blu-ray/4K release comes out.

I guess people will have to wait for a fansub then if they won't offer official subs.

I looked at the SF metreon showing, and it's listing as JP with ENG subs on the AMC website, so maaaaaybe it actually has it?
Either way I want to see Mamo Mario so here we go!

Update: went today, DEFINITELY no subs. I heard some panicked murmurs at the beginning of the movie...

I wonder how many people got upset or asked for a refund. Seems like an odd choice on their part to do this.

I've read on another webiste that some cinemas have english subs and some doesn't have, so it depends on the cinema. Well the screenong has already passed, hopefully people read the description on the cinema website before they purchased their tickets.
