It's actually fascinating they're going for more "wholesome" take of pole dancing though I hope they have good music that matches to it instead the usual idol J-pop sound. At least the 3DCG from the PriPara peeps looks good.

No reason why it shouldn't be wholesome, there is nothing inherently unclean about the dancing. I found it interesting that three of the four girls had asymmetric leg coverings. It would be interesting if that became a fashion trend.

Pole dancing anime is a welcome change, but the direction is.... um what? Pole dancing is not really wholesome nor idol suitable outside of Vshojo and a couple of more explicit JP agencies; and Avex missed out greatly by not making it heavily fanservicey and for adults. I can't see this selling too well, and putting this on a primetime spot is asking for trouble, parent's groups couldn't even take a few seconds of an ED in Pripara for starters.

I always knew we'd get a poledancing anime someday.
But the premise of having to save a planetarium by introducing cute girls poledancing...I mean, I can see why it would work, but still.
Also some of the outfits range from tasteful to something you would expect strippers to wear, minus the fact that they probably won't be tearing any fabric off during the poledancing.
Now where's my 2D poledancing animation?

Well then the producers would do well to ignore those parent groups. Pole dancing is as much an art form as any other. It's not inherently unwholesome unless one makes it so.
Actually, there's already a seinen manga with a serious take on pole dancing, Silver Pole Flowers (シルバーポールフラワーズ)(complete at three volumes) which follows two girls dedicated to pole dancing. Aside the subject, it could be like any other sports manga...

I looked that up, and it's exactly how this should've been. It's also from the author of Harukana Receive, which is really something I should probably check out.

Pole dancing as exercise is actually becoming increasingly popular, but it’s still going to be a while before the usual stereotypes aren’t the first thing that pops into one’s head.
Still, this concept is unique enough I might have to give it a look.

I'm not opposed to a pole dancing anime, whether it's portrayed in a sexualized manner or not. However. HOWEVER
Those outfits make NO goddamn sense for this. There's an inherent stickiness to skin that fabric can't imitate, and for pole dancing you want to be as close to naked as possible because that's how you stay on the pole! If you tried to dance in stockings you'd slide right down to the floor. Not to mention how the big floofy skirts would mess with their rotation...
Honestly, this is PuraOre "dancing on the ice in gogo boots right after finishing a hockey game" all over again.

While technically true (and I definitely have a healthy respect for talented pole dancers!), it is still an activity overwhelmingly associated with one specific type of venue, and no degree of qualifying is going to distract from that. I also don't see how this is going to be managed with girls wearing skirts - even if they do have shorts on underneath, but whatever. I'm leery about this one.

Seeing that Tatsunoko and Avex are involved, I'm not surprised since there was pole dancing in King of Prism: Pride the Hero. They may have wanted to just run with the idea. Apparently they had to hire an actual pole dancer for Pride the Hero and it took them two months to get an idea on how to animate the clothing.

To be fair this can happen even if you’re dressed appropriately due to not gripping the pole properly…..as one poor dancer found out the hard way landing face first.
